I once rode about the same distance to work, into a north wind and freezing rain. I changed at the office and left my rain clothes out to thaw and dry through the day. Like you, I swore "never again"...i rode 11 miles to work in 28 degrees this morning. i will probably put a floor at 32-34 the rest of the winter. it was a balmy 45 and windy on the way home.
below 30 or so, i just can't keep my fingers and toes warm while riding and after about an hour, it starts being a real pain. i was using heavy, windproof winter biking gloves and lined neoprene booties over my shoes and had hand warmers shoved in both.I once rode about the same distance to work, into a north wind and freezing rain.
