I've come to the some conclusion. For me it, it's the way Alabama has lost over the past two years. Losing games is expected. Getting blown out and looking like you didn't know there was a game to prepare for is totally different. DeBoer's losses look WAY worse than any of his "big" wins look good. His biggest wins are arguably against Georgia, and Georgia was a play or two away from winning both.

Speaking of the wins, as they added up, DeBoer talked about the team's resilience, as if that was the characteristic of the wins. Looking back at South Caroline, Auburn, and the playoff win against Oklahoma, I think it was as much luck and the other team imploding as it was anything related to resilience.

With 4500 players, and growing in the portal, how many of these guys declaring are just trying to get more money from their current team, or just testing the market to see what their value is. The way the portal is growing, half the college players out there will be in it. Will there really be that much turnover?

I disagree, Bob. I don't think Mack is going to be the guy. He'll portal out once he realizes he's not going to be the starter (Russell will or Ty will come back).

Staff moves unless you are moving OC or DC don’t happen fast. DeBoer literally had 15 hrs before the transfer portal opened after losing to Indiana. It’s why you aren’t seeing really anyone with an incumbent coach making position moves right now.

I don't think you have any concerns about staff changes.

Formby was going to be moved to OG and he wants to be an OT. So he left. He's not a very good OT and OG should be a much better fit for his skills. He disagrees.

For those “rolling the dice” in attempt to leverage more from their current team, it can easily be “cutting off your nose to spite your face”. If nothing happens in terms of offers, and you decide to withdraw from the portal, the former team is in no way obligated to take you back. And if they do, then they are in no way obligated to any previous agreement in terms of NIL.
I saw where it was estimated that 1/3 to 1/2 of the over 4000 players in the portal will not get picked up.

Over the last two years, when was the last time Bama played a complete four quarter game against an SEC team? I honestly can’t think of one. Their best wins have come from playing a strong 1½ to 2 quarters and then hanging on for dear life at the end. I know it’s probably the same old song and dance for now, but CKD doesn’t have his players in place yet. We’ll see what happens once he does.

Seems like all wins vs any decent teams have been close. Inability to run ball with lead is a mjor culprit. Conditioning/attitude may be as well but hard to tell from afar.

That or it tells you the coaching staff wasn’t happy with there play and know it needs upgraded and told them to move on. I scout and do recruiting for baseball here and talking to other scouts we have a discussion would you rather bring a guy with great coaching at high school level that is already polished but might not have high ceiling or do you want a kid that never really got much coaching but has higher Upside if you get him the top level coaching he hasn’t gotten could be much better.

Anybody with even a basic knowledge of football can see that Bama has issues. It’s up to CKD to address and fix them now. If he’s too soft or too loyal to make the necessary changes, his days will be numbered.

There is a lot of different reasons for each of those guys. Some of then went for the money. Some of them were not fits from transition of changing systems. Some wanted a chance to play and needed to go elsewhere because they wouldn’t get it here. Some probably were pushed out by coaching staff because they had brought in better options.
I don’t think 66 is a huge number either like many would think especially with a coaching change. I saw Ohio State lost a lineman today in the article it said that was the 18th guy so far to hit the portal this year for them.
