ICE Officer Kills Motorist In Minneapolis

1. The first officer CLEARLY violated policy by walking and standing in front of her vehicle, blocking her path and causing her to try to backup.
2. A second officer exacerbated the interaction by trying to open the car door, causing her to attempt to flee.
3. The first officer pulled his gun as she attempted to steer around him (clearly her tires were pointed to the right).
4. The first officer pulled his gun and shot her in the head, without a clear need to fire his gun as he was not in true danger, and disregarding the danger to everyone else by his actions.

Looking at the comments under that cellphone video, there's tons of magas saying she did deserve to be shot in the head. Doesn't matter if she was flustered, or not, she was attempting to leave the scene and not run over the agent, so that didnt warrant a death sentence, imo.

Until now, to receive the death penalty in the USA, you received a trial by jury and had the option to appeal to a higher court. It was not dispensed on the street.

On the one hand, it is crazy they don't have bodycams. OTOH... I see exactly why they don't have bodycams.

We had a case here in HSV where an officer shot a man who had been talked down by other officers. They fought the release of the bodycam footage for months while the mayor and police chief said he was innocent. Then the court forced the release... It was chilling... Dude walks in and blows the guy away and is now charged with murder.

When you go looking for trouble, you often find it. The "find out" part is often harsh. I wish she would have made better decisions, not let herself be influenced by people with bad intentions, and stayed home to be the good mother/wife/friend she is claimed to be.

I wish the ICE agent would not have shot her. I'm not sure why she couldn't have been picked up at a time of their choosing, considering they had her tag recorded. Since impeding traffic is a common tactic of leftist agitators, why couldn't tire spikes be used to make sure she wouldn't get far if she was deemed an ongoing threat. Lots of preferred, less lethal, results should have happened.

The face of a domestic terrorist and someone about to run someone over on purpose.
FWIW, I would have been more concerned about her partner than her. There was contributory neglance on both sides. IMO, much more on the 'professional' side, aka ICE.

To clarify, the victim never threatened anyone other than himself. He had a gun trained on his own head during the entire incident...

Our approach to situations where people are threatening suicide has always been ham-handed at best. We could, and should, do better. I believe the real problem lies underneath the surface which is overall indifference to this sort of thing. And the primary driver of that is just how hard it is to fathom the kind of pain one has to be in to even consider taking this way out.

Working in mental health almost destroyed me, but one of my most recallable memories was talking a fellow out of killing himself. He was a giant bear of a man and if I live to be older than Methuselah, I'll never forget how hard he grabbed and hugged me when, after many hours of talk and tears, he realized there was a better way. I can still remember the deep, heaving sobs of a broken man whose tears were literally running down my back. It sounds like a happy ending and in terms of results, it was. However, no matter how much I drank that night, sleep avoided me hard. I knew I wasn't built for this sort of thing over the long term. It takes a toll.

So yes, putting in the kind of effort it takes to get a good outcome isn't something most are prepared to do. Furthermore, it will leave a lasting impression on everyone involved. Indeed, it's easier to "let the cops handle it" but more often than not, it isn't particularly helpful because it is seen as a problem that needs a quick solution. Once out of sight, out of mind. ☹️

ABC news did a deep dive, apolitical, frame by frame on the shooting. Their conclusion, the first shot was a defensive shot, the other two through the open driver side window are what’s up for debate. I’m going to make some here mad, but , training for law enforcement officers are that you neutralize a threat. Once you pull the trigger, there is no turning back. Many law enforcement agencies train to empty the magazine . This is a heartbreaking tragedy. One in which could have been avoided. But to me, this was justifiable homicide.

Time to change procedures then. That is just nuts to me. I would make being provided a bodycam a condition of my employment.
It was, but they continue to claim they don’t have the funds to provide cameras to everyone. I wonder why they don’t want their thugs wearing cameras?

The video from his phone just proves to me that he murdered her. Nothing justifies what this thug did. Fleeing LEOs should not be a death sentence. Track her down later and arrest her, but shooting her in the face multiple times is criminal.

Can’t wait for MAGA to explain how holding a phone, recording a video and shooting someone in the face all at the same time is proper police procedure and wouldn’t compromise his mindset at all. He was distracted and not fully paying attention, broke multiple agency policies, while deciding to kill someone.

DOOCY: Vance yesterday suggested Renee Good was part of a broad left-wing network. What has your team told you about this? Who is in charge of it?

TRUMP: I haven't seen the vice president's statement but he's generally very accurate. She was an agitator. Probably a paid agitator. She was not normal.

More nonsense from the people in charge.

Oh yes, the "agitator" label.

That's what they called the civil rights demonstrators during the '60s.

As a child, I remember seeing a semi trailer in downtown Jackson, MS with bars all around the cage.

I remember asking my Mom what it was all about. She replied, "That's where they put all the 'agitators'"

This all hinges on the salient point: The LEO should never have been in the position in front of the vehicle. Training manuals (I've cited here before) for both ICE and DHS are very clear about this.

There were umpteen ways to stop that woman from getting very far should she choose to bolt. Use of deadly force was not one of them.

Of course, the Keystone Kops in charge of Federal LE(FBI, etc) are determined to protect this guy, when he should be in custody.
