ICE Officer Kills Motorist In Minneapolis

Just because Biden had a very poor record on securing the border is no excuse for what happened to her.
I'm not saying it is, but if we're going to play the "what if?" game, we should probably go all the way down the rabbit hole. See, here's the thing about ICE: I would MUCH rather not need them at all. LEOs aren't perfect, God knows, and some of them are proven sociopaths. How many times on this very board have I voiced my contempt for agencies like the FBI and CIA, who are absolutely RIFE with corruption? As a (small L) libertarian, I have an inherent distrust of law enforcement (and most other bureaucracies) and I always have. You know this. That does not mean I will join in with the nuts who harass, attack or yes, even attempt to run over officers with my car. (This is one of the reasons why I still have the correct number of holes in my head.)

So, here I am stuck between having to choose who I trust the least: law enforcement or the idiots who make them necessary. However, I will not cast my lot with the performative cosplay revolutionaries who are clearly part of the problem. This is the situation created for us by the elitist, narcissistic nutbags who run this country and now we have to deal with it. We didn't ask for this, but I'll tell you one thing: a HELL of a lot of people voted to get this problem fixed. If this is what it takes, they're going to continue to support ICE which means occasionally having to look the other way on questionable acts (and the acts in question will have to be a lot more questionable than what we've been talking about for days now.)

I swear to God, this country is absolutely overflowing with people who believe their ideologies have some sort of talismanic quality that protects them from the consequences of the choices they make. You find these clowns on both the left and the right. Even worse, you'll find them in Washington D.C. And yeah, I can understand why THEY feel that way since they never seem to have to answer for anything. The rank-and-file? Yeah, not so much.

Anyway, rant ON [OFF]. Like Dennis Miller used to say, "Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong."

How so? Even MTG was for it, at least at first?
The actual limitations for immigration were woefully inadequate. Then there was the (I think) $118 billion in more aid for Ukraine and Israel that ticked people off. As for MTG, I doubt she ever read it. Most of those assclowns in Congress don't read these bills. I can think of only two who routinely read every bill and that's Massie and Paul.

I have been saying for years that all bills should be single-issue, one page bills that tackle ONE thing. These insane 300 page bills full of God-knows-what are one of the reasons that spending in this country is completely out of control.

Yesterday, two suspected Tren de Aragua gang associates—let loose on American streets by Joe Biden—weaponized their vehicle against Border Patrol in Portland. The agent took immediate action to defend himself and others, shooting them.

The driver of the vehicle, Luis David Nico Moncada is a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and suspected Tren de Aragua gang member. He illegally entered the U.S. in 2022 and was RELEASED into the country by the Biden administration. Since then, he was arrested for DUI and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He has a final order of removal.

The passenger, Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras is a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and is associated with Tren de Aragua. She illegally entered the U.S. in 2023 near El Paso, Texas, and was RELEASED into this country by the Biden administration. Since illegally entering, Contreras played an active role in a Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and was involved with a prior shooting in Portland.
Here's how a responsible government might have phrased it in a social media post:

Today a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent discharged a firearm during a vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon. Two individuals were struck and are receiving medical treatment.

The individuals have been identified as Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano Contreras, both Venezuelan nationals. DHS reports both entered the United States without authorization in 2022 and 2023.

Federal officials state the agent acted after the vehicle presented a threat to the safety of agents during the encounter. The FBI is leading the investigation into the use of force, with assistance from local and state authorities.

Law enforcement has identified an alleged nexus between the individuals and the criminal organization Tren de Aragua. This information is based on current investigative findings and has not yet been adjudicated in court.

Additional details will be released as the investigation continues.

Thanks for adding! It has been a while since I watched it. I was very disappointed in the city trying to cover it up.
The worst thing was that it occurred seconds after he entered the room. He didn't even try to evaluate the situation. Although he was a rookie, he warned off the two senior officers before executing the guy...

How are those instructions being delivered? In a professional, no-nonsense manner or in a angry expletive-filled rant, complete with drawn weapons? And are they being said to an armed and dangerous criminal or to a smiling woman sitting in a car who is telling law enforcement that she's not mad at them? Words can be reasonable in one situation and unreasonable in another.

Citizens are entitled to be scared and wary of the police, particularly if those officials are acting in an unprofessional and needlessly provocative way. Defusing the situation in the least violent way possible is the responsibility of properly trained and competent law enforcement.
Two things, obviously they were not scared of the police in this scenario or they wouldn’t have parked their car in the middle of the road in an obvious attempt to deter the Agents.
The second is there were no drawn weapons when GOOD was asked to get out of her car.

First: Maybe they weren't particularly scared at the start, but that clearly changed as the situation evolved. Now that we know that ICE will shoot you in the face for not obeying their orders, others will probably be a bit more wary at all times. No one will expect rational behavior from ICE anymore.
Second: You're correct. While the instructions clearly weren't delivered in a professional way (and she was not asked to get out of her car), no weapons were drawn. And only the killer drew his weapon as she began to drive away.

There is a big gang war going on in America. We'll have to see how it shakes out. There is a LOT of money in narcotics, as the Sackler family can attest. My personal belief is Trump and his buddies are going to try to get it under "control" by forcing the gangs to pay him "tribute". I don't believe Trump and his billionaire backers have the good of the American people in mind AT ALL.

Unfortunately, we'll all have to work with incomplete information while maniacal super-rich "people" who can never be satisifed play with our lives. We're in a world of trouble.

First she is seen with a smile and heard speaking conciliatory “That’s fine dude. I’m not mad at you,”
Then she can be seen turning steering wheel quickly to the right, away from the officer as she slowly moves forward
Then the first shot, through the windshield, "maybe' could be explained by the quickness of events.
Then at point blank range, a shot at her head through her driver's side window (front of car already passed him safely)
Then another point blank range shot at her head through her driver's side window

Those are the facts, not opinions. What more does anybody need to see that this is absolutely not a justified shooting

Every time I look at this I see more things.
It looks like this ICE agent shot more than once. I have no idea how many times she was hit and when.
It also appears that she was NOT attempting to block anybody. You can actually see her with the window down trying to wave the ICE SUV by, not block or interfere.

Wheels were turned right. Barely creeping at that point.

The officer was not in danger. Unless he chose to put himself in front of a moving vehicle. Which the video does seem to indicate.

They hired these rubes off social media. Gave 'em a gun, too. Probably sent them to a 3 week training course and set them loose. What could go wrong?

I spent my gap year after college working nuclear security at Grand Gulf Nuclear in Port Gibson, MS. They pretty much hired anybody off the street to do that job. Put us thru about a month of training and gave us all .357 magnums for our shifts. I sometimes wonder how we avoided a major shooting incident down there - given the kinsd of idiots(including my drunkard 21 yr old self) they had carrying. Going to the gun range with them was always a problem.

As an aside, when I worked for the TVA on a nuclear construction site. We had a TVA employed security officer discharge his weapon once at night apparently for demonstration/target practice. He was fired immediately.

I had a question about the term frequently used here about "obeying orders from police". My question is: Does the Border Patrol/Immigration Department have police authority over US citizens. I have been led to believe that they do not.

The other question I have had is: where are the Local/State police in this situation. Doesn't the Department of Immigration have an obligation to notify local and state authorities of their planned action in order to prevent conflicts with citizens. Obviously their intent isn't to maintain an orderly presence in the states/cities that are democratically goverened. The intent is to demonstrate Federal dominance over the citizenry.

I am amazed at the pain that people have gone to in order to justify the muder of an unarmed civilian, who appeared to be caught in between a woman who was taunting the agents while video taping them and was apparently attempting to move away to avoid an inflamatory situation. Of course we have justified shootings in this country for years for crimes such as "driving while black"

they’ve been defending the administration’s horrific actions since day 1 of the first term

OK - that's fine. Everyone should have a right to opine on how they would word a press release - other than what was released.

I myself would have worded it differently.

But you said:
"I wish Trump's government mouthpieces would stick to the facts rather than polluting their releases with political rhetoric."

And I just didn't see anything in the release that was not factual.

I'm assuming you didn't like the fact that Joe Biden was mentioned. Three times, no less!

Regardless of whether or not it was the proper thing to do in our opinions, I can suggest to you why he does this.

1. Under Biden, illegals were allowed into the country at astounding levels. Many of these persons are not who we would have allowed in under normal circumstances. Nor would we want them here. The Department of Homeland Security is now trying to resolve that issue. One we wouldn't have if Biden had only taken care of it himself.

2. Under Biden, Trump and his family were attacked by the justice system - with the intent to put them in prison. We can debate all you want with whether or not this is true - but what matters is how Trump feels about it....and why he includes Biden in his comments so much.

As Doc Holiday puts it in "Tombstone" when referring to Wyatt Earp's pursuit of justice......"Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after. It's a reckoning!"

And lastly, if you have ever wondered why I detest Joe Biden so much - it's because I knew we would be stuck cleaning up his messes after he left office.

If I were you - I too would detest the man. Not only because of his incompetence while serving as POTUS.......but an argument could easily be made that if had not tried to run for a second term, the Democrats may have won the election, instead of Trump.

And on top of that....another argument could easily be made that if he'd taken care of the southern border - Trump wouldn't won the election. because that was the #1 issue for voters in the country. And he blew it!

I'm not one for spending tons of time arguing with someone on the Internet but thought you deserved a response.

Carry on my friend.........

Carry on my friend.........
  1. If DHS were actually focusing on the dangerous criminals Trump claims to be targeting, the protests would be a fraction of what they are. What people are reacting to are the heavy handed and often unconstitutional tactics that Republicans keep pretending are fine as long as the targets are immigrants.
  2. Trump is not some wronged hero seeking justice. He is a vindictive narcissist who has never accepted responsibility for anything in his life. He attacks anyone who criticizes him and his supporters treat that behavior like a virtue instead of a defect.
  3. I do not reserve my anger for flawed politicians. I reserve it for people who are genuinely corrosive to democracy. Joe Biden is a normal fallible public servant who believes in this country and its institutions. From Reagan through Obama I never worried that the presidency itself was a threat to the rule of law. That changed under Trump, a man who cares about no one but himself and has open contempt for the rights of anyone who gets in his way.
  4. And the idea that the border alone decided the 2024 election is just not true. The economy was the top issue for voters. That is what actually moved people.
