Trump policies X

Already 38T in debt, growing by trillions yearly and now this
Remember all that humanitarian aid to children around the world that was eliminated to reduce the budget and end wasteful spending? Remember all the lip service from conservatives about how we needed to take care of our own needy at home? Turns out, we're spending all that money and much more to fuel Trump's Department of War. I'm sure that wasn't the plan all along.

I certainly remember the multitude of posts praising DOGE as it thoughtlessly gutted government programs, all in the name of reducing spending and the deficit. Strangely enough, the massive increase in the defense budget draws nary a whisper from those same fiscal warriors. It's almost as if the big problem was spending money to help starving and needy people. That's considered a waste, but unlimited funds making it possible to kill and conquer on a whim are perfectly acceptable. Eliminate soft power efforts and people die. Increase the war budget and people die. The former must be satisfying on some level, but blowing up and/or shooting people - now that's much more fun (and manly).

and there it is. im sure it will be explained im great detail how this is totally not racist

Trump argued to the Times that the Civil Rights-era protections established in the 1960s — protections that outlawed racially discriminatory voting laws and racial segregation — led to discrimination against white Americans, including the denial of education opportunities.

“White people were very badly treated, where they did extremely well and they were not invited to go into a university, to college,” Trump told the Times, an apparent reference to affirmative action policies at higher-education institutions. “So I would say in that way, I think it was unfair in certain cases.”

So just to be clear......

Trump is blaming Biden for higher credit card rates and now says he wants a 10% cap on them, as if he has any say at all.

Reminds me of that time Biden, after spending years telling me Presidents couldn't control gas prices, "demanded" the gas prices to come down "now."

I mean, he couldn't do it either (and to be fair, this wasn't the NORM for him like it is the Felon-in-Chief).

Biden DID manipulate the Strategic Reserve in the consumers' favor. He did some amazing prevention of the artificial bidding-up of the cost of oil. You didn't want to bet against him.

Folks can say what they want.

But no President - not Biden, not Trump - sets the oil price on the market, either, which is the stupid argument that gets advanced every time I turned around (not that you're saying this). (Even some lefties called Biden out for suggesting so).

Hell, Clinton released strategic reserves to artificially lower gas prices to try and get Gore elected in the Fall of 2000, and we all saw how much that did to help Gore.

Ever since Covid shut down the country I've watched the MAGA cult tell me how they miss $1.75/gallon.
I mean, do they also miss 14.7% unemployment of the same month, because that's why gas was so low. I got my son an airline ticket five hours before the plane was to leave LAX as he fled the pandemic.

The cost of the flight was $97 on American. It wasn't because American was the company with a heart or anything else.

There were only 8 people on that jet that night, and they all isolated from each other.

IIRC, credit card companies bumped up the standard interest rate in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. Congress then passed a bill setting a cap on how high interest rates could be raised.

The CC companies promptly raised their rates to that cap.

Hey, attacking Iran...and Cuba....and Greenland ain't cheap.

What they're saying:

Cole's lawyer, Mario Williams, says Cole voted for Trump twice before he was arrested and charged with interstate transportation of explosive devices and malicious attempt to use explosive devices in December.

Williams also says he believes the president's pardon for all Jan. 6 defendants applies to Cole.

Cole's lawyers plan to make a filing with the court soon, laying out their argument that the pardon applies.
