ICE Officer Kills Motorist In Minneapolis

I don't know why people want to only deal with "violent" criminals. There are a ton of non-violent crimes that should warrant expulsion for an illegal immigrant. DUI being the biggest but there is also burglary, vandalism, fraud among others.
Well, wrt illegal immigrants, the administration has claimed that ICE/DHS is specifically targeting the violent criminals. However, there's no sign that their efforts are directed to that end. Instead, it's pretty much "Arrest everyone and let the courts work it out DHS deport them before the courts can do anything."

And since Stephen Miller has established quotas, ICE/DHS has incentive to NOT go after the violent criminals, but instead go for anyone of color, simply because they might be illegal (thanks, Justice Kavanaugh, you feckless *****).

those day laborers at home depot are a rowdy bunch /s

if I read it correctly, around 70 percent of this picked up have no criminal record. also, many of them were in various phases of “coming here the right way” when they were snatched up.

Two CBP Agents Identified in Alex Pretti Shooting

The two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez.

The two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez.

The records viewed by ProPublica list Ochoa, 43, and Gutierrez, 35, as the shooters during the deadly encounter last weekend that left Pretti dead and ignited massive protests and calls for criminal investigations.

Both men were assigned to Operation Metro Surge, an immigration enforcement dragnet launched in December that sent scores of armed and masked agents across the city.

CBP, which employs both men, has so far refused to release their names and has disclosed few other facts about the deadly incident, which came days after a different immigration agent shot and killed another Minneapolis protester, a 37-year-old mother of three named Renee Good.

Pretti’s killing, and the subsequent secrecy surrounding the agents involved, comes as the country confronts the consequences of President Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration crackdown. The sweeps in cities across the country have been marked by scenes of violence, against immigrants and U.S. citizens, by agents allowed to hide their identities with masks — an almost unheard of practice in law enforcement. As a result, the public has been kept from one of the chief ways it has to hold officers involved in such altercations accountable: their identity.

Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers have called for a transparent investigation into the killing of Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse working at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital.

“We must have a transparent, independent investigation into the Minnesota shooting, and those responsible—no matter their title—must be held accountable,” Republican Sen. John Curtis of Utah wrote on X on Monday.

BREAKING: Tom Homan announces that 700 federal agents will be pulled out of Minnesota after he says he’s made “significant progress” with local officials and is there are now an “unprecedented number of counties” communicating with ICE and allowing them to take custody of criminal aliens at their jails before they are released to the streets. Additionally, Homan makes it clear that he isn’t asking sanctuary jurisdictions to hold criminal aliens in jail any longer than they normally would (this is a common concern amongst sanctuary jurisdictions, who say to do so would be illegal).

Homan says he is simply asking for the locals to give a heads up to ICE when a criminal aliens is about to be released so ICE can come pick them up and keep them off the streets.

This is for county jails - not state prisons, which already cooperate with ICE.

Let me put it in bumper sticker language:

Trump
Always
Chickens
Out

Too bad he didn't do it before indiscriminately having a couple of white people killed.

The difficulty here is not with what Homan says. It sounds fantastic. The difficulty is whether or not he's telling the truth. If I could trust what this government says about itself, that would go a really long way toward being able to trust the direction it is leading the country. But by itself, this link just confuses me. I believe that 700 federal agents will be pulled out of MN, but that's about all I believe of what he says. It isn't even that I don't believe it. It's that whether something is true or not doesn't seem to be a significant factor in the communicative patterns of this government. They seem to have other reasons for choosing what or what not to say.

"He was not an angel & she was not an angel... I’m not happy with it, but I'm going to always be with our great people of law enforcement, ICE."

Stomach-churning posthumous sliming of Pretti & Good

You shouldn’t have to be an angel to not be murdered by your government

They weren't angels, so he'll take the side of their killers. Who supports this despicable perspective?

covering up murder

But later that week, as F.B.I. agents equipped with a signed warrant prepared to document blood spatter and bullet holes in Ms. Good’s S.U.V., they received orders to stop, according to several people with knowledge of the events who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

The orders, they said, came from senior officials, including Kash Patel, the F.B.I. director, several of whom worried that pursuing a civil rights investigation — by using a warrant obtained on that basis — would contradict President Trump’s claim that Ms. Good “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer” who fired at her as she drove her vehicle.

Over the next few days, top Department of Justice officials presented alternative approaches. First, they suggested prosecutors ask a judge to sign a new search warrant for the vehicle, predicated on a criminal investigation into whether the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who shot Ms. Good, Jonathan Ross, had been assaulted by her. Later, they urged the prosecutors to instead investigate Ms. Good’s partner, who had been with Ms. Good on the morning of the shooting, confronting immigration agents in their Minneapolis neighborhood.
