Space - the final frontier (Misc.) II

Last time I attended a launch was 15 years ago for the STS-125 Atlantis - a Hubble Space Telescope mission. Got some complimentary tickets from the director of the complex as a perk for doing some landscaping for him at their house in Titusville.

The viewing area I was at was fairly good but not like this one....pics posted on FB.....

Where is the best place to view a launch? Sounds like a simple question?
It's not, really. It's only simple if you just want to see it from anywhere and don't care too much about how far you are.
Cape Canaveral/Kennedy Space Center is a HUGE place, spanning approximately 17 miles north to south, and 12 miles east to west in terms of launch pads and the public viewing areas around the edges (see map above). Each of the rockets takes off from a different launch pad and every launch takes place at a different time of day. Therefore, the best place to view each launch depends on those factors. Which launch pad it is means different viewing spots are better. The time of day can determine whether a closer place (like Playalinda Beach) is open or not. And for many launches, the option to buy tickets from the Visitor Complex to get closer is also a factor. Depending on who you are, you might also have a preference to "simply get closer" or "I want to be the closest while still having a clear view of the pad so I can get good photos!" Some closer spots have obstructed views of the launch pad, with trees or other things in the way (sometimes the Visitor Complex is the closest place, but there is no clear view of any pad from there; rather you see the rocket about five to ten seconds after launch when it clears the tree line).

Pro-Built Model Rockets and Accessories​


While I still love building model rockets, particularly scale or classics, at the age of 72 with a congenital lower leg/foot nerve disorder my mobility has become so bad on fields I have realized I really cannot comfortably fly much any longer. I was hoping I might but it doesn't appear too realistic. So I am offering most of my fleet for sale. They are all in excellent condition and, honestly, built expertly, and most have not flown. Look at my pics of what I have on my shelf and if interested contact me. Other than the Estes kits most are built from 3D parts with classic body tubes. Many are from Shapeways/Aerobotix parts which were excellent before Shapeways folded. Here's the list of what I have and prices. They all mostly include recovery systems and are ready for flight. Most have cloth parachutes and elastic cord shock cords. I am a bit negotiable and will be honest, the prices are materials cost plus in general about 20% for paints and labor. Message me if you are interested and we can discuss details, thanks. I am located in Brandon, FL and pickup or meet up would work best but I will consider shipping depending on the rocket and details.
