Can we talk Bama headgear 2026?

Bama wore white helmets in the 50s, 60s, 70's and early/mid 80s. That's pre-Bryant, the Bryant era, and post-Bryant.

But, the last time we wore them was under Ray Perkins.

I wonder if the "last memory" of white helmets being associated with RP, which is not the best memory for those of us who can remember it, impacts how we feel about them???
I go way back, but my only memories of the white helmets contain a lot of losing. Keep them stowed away!

Don't mess with the uniform. It's trying to improve on perfection -- gilding the lily.

White helmets with a red stripe and numbers isn't messing with the uniform. Bryant used to do it a lot, especially if the opposing team had red helmets. Since then, it's been done periodically over the years and isn't a drastic departure.

I'm unaware of Alabama ever wearing red pants. Let's not even think about a sheen on the pants....that's an abomination against the Lord.

I believe it is the unwritten 11th commandment.

I personally think white helmets would be really cool from time to time, but I also think it’s unlikely to happen. The last time he was directly questioned about it, CKD basically shot it down.

My senior year at Alabama (2006), we had one game where the home jerseys had a thin houndstooth collar on them, I think it was Ole Miss. That’s as adventurous as I’ve ever witnessed. It does seem like the team frequently wore black socks instead of white socks under Shula, but that’s really splitting hairs. I’ve also seen a lot of photos of white cleats as opposed to black cleats in the 80s. I think if we were to wear white helmets on the road, white cleats would be really clean. But again, splitting hairs.
