Decline of the GOP - XVII

I ain’t standing by anyone. He should have never been allowed on the democratic ticket.

I agree with @selmaborntidefan, it’s pathetic that he got this far. Democrats can’t complain about the GOP supporting Neo Nazi groups only to allow a nazi on your ticket.

Its disgusting. I refuse to vote for any GOP in November and this has me close to not voting for any Democrats as well.

I thought they had a slim chance at taking both chambers, but now I’m not sure I even care. If both parties are going to support Nazis and cover for sexual predators than I’m done. Not gonna waste my time at the ballot box anymore for any of these scumbag politicians.

Both sides suck, you say? Welcome aboard the USS Cassandra Complex. There's plenty of room.

If we could build a party around all disillusioned voters in this country, it would win every election. Sadly, most “independent” voters still vote the same retarded way they always have, they just don’t get their phones blown up with donation requests. I’m about done with them, too.

Nah.

All that would happen is what (almost) always happens when a third candidate runs, a splintering of the vote, and an election of the worst of the two bad choices.

Even though who want to say, @but Jesse Ventura” might want to remember that most states, unlike Minnesota, have the 50% plus one rule and thus a runoff.

I question whether he could have won a runoff in Minnesota in 1998. Even so, he’s still the exception to the rule that proves the rule.

What’s funny right now is that I can just imagine McConnell saying in 2016 that although Scalia is dead, he is still a justice on the court.

Victor Marx, a self-described ‘high-risk humanitarian,’ will win GOP nomination for Colorado governor, CNN projects

Marine veteran Victor Marx, whose wild claims – including saying he was forced to kill a man at age 7 – have drawn widespread attention and significant skepticism, will win the Republican nomination for governor in Colorado, CNN’s Decision Desk projects.

Marx, a ministry leader and martial arts enthusiast with a devoted social media following, prevailed over two more experienced rivals, state Sen. Barb Kirkmeyer and state Rep. Scott Bottoms, both of whom have said they wouldn’t endorse him if he’s the party’s nominee.

...

A self-described “high-risk humanitarian” who leads an anti-human trafficking nonprofit and a practitioner of “Cajun Karate,” Marx’s colorful personality resonated with grassroots conservatives, powering him past skeptics who raised questions about his claims, which range from rescuing abuse victims to ordering an airstrike targeting ISIS.

In an interview with local news outlet 9News in May, Marx insisted he was telling the truth but often declined to provide details, such as how he allegedly ordered the airstrike.

“Just watch Iron Eagle, it’ll make total sense.”

Exactly, but some folks think it's "(D)ifferent" for rather obvious reasons.

Democrats when VA Governor Ralph Northam was found to have posed as a young adult in either a Klan outfit or "blackface" in medical school:
He needs to resign immediately.

Democrats when Graham Platner still had a Nazi tattoo at 41:
I accept his explanation of a youthful indiscretion.

Here I am in Texas having to pull the lever for James Talarico, who is going to lose, not because I like him but because Ken Paxton's reign of terror as a crooked AG is far worse than anything Talarico has done. I'll vote for a Republican who essentially shares my views IF that person will actually admit that the Medal of Dishonor winner at the Bowling Green Massacre LOST the election fair and square to Sleepy Joe.

The Senate was always going to be difficult simply because of the numbers, but it has become possible thanks to Trump's Tariffs and his all-around slimeballery. The House was virtually a given even before the guy who wrecked a football league, went bankrupt six times, destroyed Atlantic City, and flopped the Trump Shuttle decided he was a genius at redrawing safe districts (but was - as always - worse than George W Bush when it came to, you know, MATH!)

No, you are correct.

In 2024, I was left with no choice, but to vote for Kamala Harris. I stated clearly, I felt she was unqualified, but that beat being like the other guy who was disqualified and should’ve been making license plates at Alcatraz (by the way, since he is so obsessed with that, is there any chance that’s ever actually going to open?)

I despise Ted Cruz as well, but I was left with no choice but to vote for him when I had to pull the lever for Harris. I’m a firm believer in divided government, and my votes show it.

Why can’t life be like 1988, when I first had the right to vote, and every single candidate that I voted for in both parties won, and every ballot measure went the way I wanted it?

I honestly don’t think that has happened since then.

Honestly... I still run into many Trump voters who say "But if Harris won it would be so much worse..."

Do I think Harris was going to be anything other than a fairly mediocre to average President? Nope. Could she have done ok with a good cabinet and advisors, yep...

There is simply no way Harris would have destroyed so many things. We will be many years to decades rebuilding after Trump and his minions complete their mission. That is if we ever do.

In part because Harris isn’t a reactive twit who gets her jollies announcing all the punishing tariffs she’s putting on other countries that are really on the US.

There is literally no way for any of us to know beforehand how good or bad a President anyone will be. Carter and Hoover were two of the most intellectual presidents we ever had and both are largely considered failures.

But yes I’d have taken Kamala’s speeches over the toddler whose parents gave him a .357 magnum to keep him from crying.

I think the announcements, while very much the product of a petulant child, are also intentionally timed to enrich investors. I'm a recovering CPA and I keep very little in the stock market.

Hoover was a disaster for sure... He didn't have the tools to even begin to address the depression.

Carter was buffeted by world events beyond his control on several fronts. His admin in many ways was more successful that the revisionists have allowed.

I was too young to know what was going on wrt Carter, but my impression has always been that he was too honest. His 'Malaise' speech was truthful and needed to be said, but wasn't 'hopeful' enough because he wasn't going to sugar-coat it. I respect that.
