Trouble in Paradise? Five OL leaving? Usually it is backs and receivers and those who touch the ball. Hmmmm.

I don't know enough about their roster to understand the impact. Were these guys experienced players, or were they just taking up roster spots and unlikely to play? Were they good guys in the locker room, or problem guys? Losing the right 10 players might actually help them down the road.

That's two 4* and three 3* OL gone.

I don't know of any team that can lose five OL in the off season and be better.

I'm not saying that you are wrong, but consider the fact that most teams have a goal for their offensive line - the 5 best players take every meaningful snap. You mix in a 6th player who steps in if one of the best 5 goes down to injury. Few, if any, teams can go to their 7th offensive lineman during a season and have a chance of winning at the level played in the SEC. In fact, few teams even have 5 great o-linemen on a team at one time. If you have to go 7 deep, you are in trouble already. Only teams like Alabama can take those kinds of hits on the o-line and have a chance.

The o-line is just a different animal. Your best case scenario is one in which you never have a 6th player take a meaningful snap. So losing players who are not among your best 5 or 6 doesn't really hurt a team as much as one might think. The question is really about the future. Were these guys expected to start before they can be replaced in recruiting?

ETA: Just looked into this a bit deeper. 3 of the guys would never have played at LSU. The last guy to leave (Stewart) would have been a true freshman this year. He looked to be a good one, but he decided not to attend LSU before summer camp even started. However the loss of Teuhema will be felt. He was a 2 year starter. With the loss of their center and RT from last year's team, they will now only return 2 starters on their o-line. That is going to hurt. But Teuhema had to leave LSU. He had grade issues. He would not have been allowed to play in 2017 if he had stayed.

Most new coaches, (even though Ogeron was on staff last year & then took over the team) tend to clean out certain members of the team. The fact that at least 3 going to community college could indicate there may be a problem with players not going to class. This appears to be the case for Teuhema. It is unfortunate for Ogeron that half of those leaving are from the OL.

I think they were saying that They were 1 or 2 injuries away from having a nightmare, because they return 2 starters.... So if one goes down, the chemistry of the group is hard to maintain. The chemistry built in spring camp, summer and fall camp... it takes long time to gel. That's why I think LSU is in delicate spot. I wouldn't want to head into SEC play with lot of new faces on OL Line.

I agree. LSU is going to struggle this year on offense no matter who is calling the plays if they can't get their o-line settled quickly.

Some of the LSU locals in my area who keep up with their Tigers like we keep up with our Tide are saying the offense will look nothing like a "Les Miles" offense that we'd become accustomed to seeing every November. I'm not sure if "pass happy" is the right term but according to the tiggers I know they won't be lining up and running three plays and a cloud of dust. Should be interesting to see.

I noticed that on the Rant also. To here them, they'll hardly even need an OL. This, of course, is based on their guesses as to what Canada will do. Hope springs eternal...
