Personally,I have no solid gut feel how the 2004 season will unfold. I think it is a WAG for anyone to say that we will pull off a winning season with our depth issues. However, I do think we have some solid talent on campus, despite the opinions of several folks that think this is the weakest team talent wise they have seen on campus in years. Honestly, I would put our Secondary, LB's, RB's, a healty Brodie Croyle, and several of our DL/OL up against any other program in the country and feel comfortable that ours are better than theirs.
The real positive for 2004 is we have a staff that will have been on campus for longer than a year, which can only benefit our playcalling and our coaches ability to know everyone on a personal level. I think we will see a much more efficient and gelled Offense this year. One that will provide multiple looks and confuse opposing DC's. We may not lead the SEC in Total Offense but we will be a threat to every team we play this year, including LSU.
Another key factor that goes overlooked sometimes is a teams S&C Program. Not that Ben Pollard's approach at Bama wasn't top notch, but I think that the program we are running is more tailored to the system Coach Shula has implemented. We should expect to see the results of this new program on the field as players have already said that this new program is brutal.
