#1 Ohio State vs Virginia Tech (ESPN)

Final thoughts on the game:
OSU is loaded this year. Like Alabama loaded. Probably as talented of team that Urban has ever had. I was reading some thoughts last night from NFL scouts that said OSU will probably set several records in next years draft as far as 1st round picks and overall players drafted. With that being said, this team is not unbeatable. OSU went up 14-0 in this game and everybody (including myself) was saying that OSU is invincible and they are head and shoulders the best team in CFB. Then, VT takes a 17-14 lead by halftime. At this point in the game OSU's offensive line looks very average and their secondary looks below average. This game looks like it will stay close at least until the 4th quarter and then the starting QB for VT gets injured and is out for the game. From then on the route was on. Now, I don't think VT would have won the game had their starting QB played the whole game but I think OSU would have won by 7-10 points rather than 18 points.
I think Alabama is a better defensive team than OSU but the big argument for OSU will be about their offense. However, I think Alabama can pretty much match OSU player for player on offense. Obviously OSU has the advantage at QB. By the end of the year the gap may close some but right now it's a pretty wide margin in favor of OSU. Every other position Bama is as good or better than OSU. I'll take the Bama RB's (Henry and Drake) over Elliott and whoever is the OSU 2nd string RB. Elliott is a monster but so is Henry. I think those two are a push. I haven't seen a backup RB with the capability that Drake has so I'll give Bama the advantage there. I also give Bama the edge at TE with OJ Howard. He has really improved his blocking and showed flashes in the passing game against Wisconsin. I did't really see any TE for OSU that was a difference maker. I think the WR position is a push. Both teams are very talented but very inexperienced. OSU was without their top few WRs against VT so this edge may go to OSU as the season wears on. Offensive line I would give the advantage to Bama right now. VT was in the OSU backfield a lot last night. X factor right now I would give the advantage to OSU and Braxton Miller. He's an unbelievable talent that can line up at QB, RB, WR, H-Back, wherever, He's a threat to score from anywhere on the field. However, I think that towards the end of the season Bama may have a player emerge that fits that role also: Bo. From reading from folks who are at the practices, I've read that after his suspension Bo will be 100% involved in the gameplan and that if he wasn't supsended he would be playing right now.
All of this is with the caveat that the season is only one week old. TLDR: OSU is very talented but not unbeatable.

Everything @crimsonforce said, I agree with. Only thing I saw last night is that.. IF Brewer hadn't got hurt, it would've been close game... I"m not sure if having Bosa would make a huge difference.. Offense looks pretty good, but as I stated early, I noticed they were using Miller in different ways and that could be interesting as the season progress on. I think now that they have the next 9 bye weeks before next real game... I can't help but think that OHIO will struggle in play off because of their cockiness and atittude... as if " No body can stop us" I pray we'll meet them in title game..
When playing ''down to the competition'' so many weeks in a row, stronger opponents become much more difficult to overcome.
Osu looked very good but the knee-jerk praise after one game against a likely mediocre team is a bit overboard.
I watched the game until the end of the 3rd quarter when it was apparent that OSU was firmly in control. I agree with CrimsonForce analysis, they are very talented but not invincible. When they get their players back from suspension and if they are on top of their game they will be tough to beat. If we continue to improve and can avoid major injuries, it could be a battle of the ages to meet them in the NC game.
Buckeyes are loaded on offense. A ton of weapons. Urban's biggest challenge is to keep them all happy with playing time and number of touches a game etc...
There's a reason it's next to impossible to go through a season starting at number one, ending at number one, and winning it all. Ohio State will get everyone's hardest shot. Yes, they're a good team; yes, they play in a less-than-SEC conference (as does everyone else); yes, they have one of the two best NCAA CFB coaches in America.
And mark my words, they will not go undefeated. Their invincible reputation right now is due primarily to the fact they knocked off BOTH Alabama and Oregon as underdogs in a playoff most folks didn't even think they deserved to play. That's not this year, when they will be heavy favorites every single game. There's no sneaking up on anybody.
And we are talking 17 to 22-year old kids here. Remember - Urban Meyer's history is littered with games that make no sense. How did he get blown out, 31-3, by Mike Shula for Pete's sake? How did he lose four games in 2007, capping it with a loss to Michigan - the same Michigan team that lost to App State?
How did his 2008 team lose to Ole Miss of all teams? And then it fell apart on him after losing in 2009 to us.

I’m looking at OSU schedule... It's a joke.. but I can see few upset opportunities
Rutger and Maryland beat Michigan last year. That's nothing considered they were bad last year. But if they can catch OSU slipping, who knows?
Penn State- I think this will be a tough game than lot of people realize. Michigan and Michigan state tough games... especially when its back to back. Those are two games I can see OSU drop...

Michigan is not gonna be a tough game for them if Ol' Blue doesn't get a lot better and in a hurry.

They've got something along the lines of what FSU faced last season where their toughest opponent was complacency and Jameis Winston's mouth. OSU doesn't seem to have a team chemistry issue of yet, so I think the biggest issue for them will be staying focused on games where they clearly out-class their opponent.

Here's why Michigan can upset them this year... Have you seen their schedule as well? They can drop 2 more games.. or win all of it. It's not exactly the strongest schedule... Plus... Teams tend to get even better or worse at the end of the season, and with their coach they have now, They will get better throughout the season and can get hot... If they beat Michigan State... Uhoh... I'm just telling you... In that conference... Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State... They all have to play against each other.. I suspect all of them will come out with a loss ... I got a feeling it will happen..
Yah, they won by 18 points over an unranked team, Bama won by 18 over the #20 team in the country. And Bama never trailed...
from the way ESPN gushed about it, you'd think they'd beaten the NFL 75th anniversary team.
I went to bed at the half, but from what I saw in the first half, OSU looks good...very good, but they seemed to have as many issues (or more) than we have at this point.
Oh, I think that by mid-season ESPN will seriously be comparing this year`s tOSU to the all-time great teams of college football. Anybody but us !!
Ohio State should - SHOULD - have lost to a 7-6 Michigan team in 2013, and if you'll recall, they turned right around and lost to a Michigan St team they should have beaten (with a berth in the title game on the line) and then lost to Clemson. Michigan vs Ohio State is a KNOWN quantity and quality match-up. By the end of the season, beating tOSU might be all Harbaugh has left to keep his guys motivated this year.
And I'm NOT predicting Michigan will beat Ohio State; I'm just telling you that they're going to lose a game, that's all.

I've seen too much football to simply write in Ohio State as a repeat national champion.
After one game it is impossible to gauge any team and certainly using one game to predict the season's outcome. IMO the facts are tOSU and Alabama are the two best teams after Week 1. Based on the rest of the season SOS tOSU is more likely to go undefeated than Alabama, that is not saying they will go undefeated. tOSU was without the services of several starters who could have made a difference in the final score but not likely by much. Had VPI's QB not been lost the final score could have been closer.
IMO tOSU and Alabama looked amazingly similar in every phase of the game with two exceptions. Alabama does not have a Braxton Miller type playmaker and they more experienced depth at QB. It will be a travesty if these two teams do not meet in the playoff finals.
