2 P.M. deadline?

I don't feel good about this. WV is his alma mater and I think all things being equal he would stay. I'm afraid WV makes a good faith effort to keep him he will stay.

I think the scenario just reported on Fox6 is most likely: That is, there is a team meeting at 3 EST (2 CST) where CRR is expected to break the news to his team, and that much of the noncommittal statements stem from his not wanting to pull a Fran. That is, he wants to meet with his team personally to break this news himself. As I understand, regular football practice is scheduled for 4 EST, so this fits with that.

The Mountaineers will have a team meeting at 3:00 PM ET today and it is believed that Rodriguez will make his intentions known before that time. West Virginia has made a counter offer. I do not know the details of the counter offer. I can only assume they have caved into paying the assistants more money and pledging money for facility upgrades.

Pledges are fine but at Alabama the assistants already make mad money compaired to what W Va pays and the facilities are already upgraded at Alabama. W Va has done little with past pledges to upgrade so who does he trust? Take what is already built or trust W Va to keep their pledge this time?

I personally believe he's just waiting to tell his team face to face that he's leaving. I don't believe UA has imposed a deadline. If he has decided to stay I think we would've already heard something.

I think it would be a mistake to continue to pittle around in WVU, but I'm not that person in question. We will know pretty soon I guess.

According to several on the West Virginia board, Rodriguez doesn't get along too well with their Deputy Athletic Director Mike Parsons.

I think the decision comes down to family, alma mater and location vs:

1. More money (for all coaches)

2. Higher visibility

3. Easier Recruiting

4. Stronger fan base

5. Stronger conference

6. Much better facilities

7. Chance to compete for NC

Duberly from Fox 6 is reporting from Morgantown and said that someone from the athletic department just said that Rodriguez to Alabama is going to happen. Some WVU alumni were making some last ditch efforts to keep him, but it wasn't enough. There is a player meeting at 2pm est and CRR will announce to his players that he is leaving, that is why no official announcement yet, he wants his players to know the answer before he makes it official.

True? Don't know, but sounds very likely.

I know the line about coming to Bama "sight unseen" has been thrown around a lot, but in this case I really believe it is jeopardizing our cause. CRR is negotiating with the WVU representatives last, and is comparing their promises against a Bama program that he only has a mental conception of. I would feel a lot better knowing he had toured our football complex and BDS earlier in the week.

I say RR stays at his alma mater where he is comfortable and having forced the issue with WV to upgrade pay raises for his athletic staff as well as new athletic facilities at which point WV agrees to do is all he wanted in the first place. I say he used Alabama as a barganing chip to get the changes done. I also think every coach who receieves a HC job at their Alma Mater is a once in a life time dream come true and that they consider it:rolleye2: one of the ultimate goals of their life. I think coach RR wants to stay at WV for that reason also. JMHO

A lager is simply a cold-filtered pilsner, by the way.
Actually, this is incorrect - a pilsner (the first lager, as it were) is a type of Lager - which is technically any beer that is cold-fermented utilizing bottom fermenting yeast.

This may need to split off into another thread, but any cold-stored (bottom fermented) beer is 'lagered' (German for 'store') and is therefore considered a Lager. Top fermenting beers (typically fermented @ room temp) are Ales.

Now back to your regularly scheduled AFPA (Alabama Football Panic Attack).

I am sure he got a good Idea of what our facilities look like from some of the sites that Alabama has on the internet. MM has probably even provided his agent with a few links.

I'm starting to think along those same lines (and hope it's not true and he does come) but it is looking sort of like that. Which I have no problem with as long as he wouldn't have entertained the idea of it and let it drag on like he has. If he plays us, then all that shows is he has issues that we would rather not have in our next HC. Having said that, again - I hope he accepts.

I do not think you need to worry about facilities. Unless our school is brain dead they had a power point / slide show of our facilities in the meeting Wednesday. They had to have made a presentation to him or in the words of Obi-wan then they are truly lost.
