The only substantive news on Liner is that he has gotten in some trouble with his high school program. Other than that, there is nothing of note. He is still committed to Auburn, and while he will probably take some official visits, I have seen nothing to indicate that he will renege on them down the stretch.Any news on Dee Liner?
There's a couple of differences in this case. 1. Liner can actually play. 2. He's at the top of every instate list. As a result, he'd have to level Muscle Shoals and half of Florence before Auburn throws away this kind of recruiting coup over CNS.This sort of reminds me of Zeke Pike. Kid gets in trouble and all signs point to a troublemaker for the school he chooses. Scarbinksy wrote that Auburn should have let Pike go during the recruitment when he began having problems. They should probably do the same with Liner. We saw how Zeke Pike did at Auburn...
Well, if you have already made the down-payment........This sort of reminds me of Zeke Pike. Kid gets in trouble and all signs point to a troublemaker for the school he chooses. Did you mean thats all the trouble he has been in?The only substantive news on Liner is that he has gotten in some trouble with his high school program. Other than that, there is nothing of note. That is all I am aware of. Perhaps there is more out there, but if so it's news to me at this point.Did you mean thats all the trouble he has been in?
Yes, and ... yes?I thought Dee Liner had gotten arrested twice this summer? Am I thinking of another Auburn recruit?
You'll make ice cubes on the face of the sun before that ever happens, but the fact that it could even be reasonably argued at this point ought to tell you all you need to know.Dee Liner is the best lineman in Alabama this year. He's committed to Auburn and sought after by every school in the country.
But Liner is currently not practicing football. He walked off the practice field last Thursday and had yet to rejoin his team as of Wednesday's practice.
That's the first of many reasons why Auburn should rescind its scholarship offer and wish him the best.
IIRC, he came upon a LEO who had pulled his mom over for a traffic stop. He proceeded to scream at and curse the officer and threw things at the LEO, I have no idea what. Disposition of the case will be interesting...Yes, and ... yes?
Liner was arrested earlier this summer on a felony B&E count that was quickly reduced to misdemeanor criminal trespassing. He also had a separate incident earlier this summer where he was charged with obstruction of governmental conduct, though I'm not sure he was ever actually arrested on those charges. Both were generally petty, stupid deals, but obviously it doesn't put you in a good light.
Actually, I think he was supposed to be in Court today on both of the charges. He'll probably plead to a couple of misdemeanors, get youthful offender and a little probation. Largely a slap on the wrist, I would expect.
A few years ago, I was eating lunch with some co-workers. Pre-season workouts were going on and the headline in the sports page said Alabama was having three a day practices that week. Saban was here, I think it was 2009, could have been 2008.Maybe that's why the barn has gotten kids to visit without parents. An adult would probably be more attentive to work ethic, etc. I've noticed the barn gets quick commitments from kids before they go home and "think" on it or discuss it with their parents/ coaches. From comments I've read in articles, it seems clear that CNS gets more compliments from coaches/parents, but Chizik gets more postive ones from the 17-18 y.o. kids (not saying players dog CNS, but there is the occasional comment, like we're too business oriented).
You remember correctly. He had a bad couple of weeks. I do not know him personally, but there appears to be a lot of anger management issues.IIRC, he came upon a LEO who had pulled his mom over for a traffic stop. That was basically it as best I can recall. I am sure they and their attorney will dispute all of those facts, but good luck legitimately challenging what an officer says, especially when you have independent credibility issues of your own.IIRC, he came upon a LEO who had pulled his mom over for a traffic stop. Exactly. That's a losing case, unless the jury is made of barn fans. That was basically it as best I can recall. If his mother and Coach Basden think that the right crowd is the au football teaam, they are in for a rude awakening........:rolleye2:Let me get this straight, the summer arrests were because he "hanging around the wrong crowds," even though for one of the arrests the only other people present were his mother and a cop?
And then "all that has changed, I am a better person now," but the next day he walks off the practice field and gets suspended by his high school team?
He's a talented kid, but I'd rather take someone like Walker and move on, which I think we have. If he holds true, I imagine he fits right in at Auburn.
