2015-16 Coaching Carousel

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Have we added Mike London of UVA to the list? He resigned today after six years.
Great guy and a good coach. Just couldn't ever turn the corner there.

Very busy "moving day" for college football coaches. Try to keep in mind that a whole lot of people are put out of work with each head coach fired, many of whom will never get another chance at a job at the level that they are currently at. This is a vicious career with a lot of casualties.

The holiday season can be a dark period for families of coaches.

Thats true, to a point I guess, but they understand that though when they made the decision to get into this profession. Most of these people have contracts that must be honored, are very well compensated, and are able to secure employment at other schools. It's not the same as if your or my family had to go through it.

I think something a young coach like CKS has to really think about is the offensive system he is inheriting. CKS would likely fall in the mix of coaches who want to play ball control offense play action etc and have a strong physical defense. A young coach might not be given enough time to move to or from the spread. We have seen over and over how risky that is from a coaching and job security standpoint.

That being said openings at UGA, USCe are very attractive whereas Missouri is probably less so. If he can't get a job in the South where he can recruit to that system I think he stays put.

Why is USCe more attractive than Mizzou? No team like Clemson to deal with in Missouri, larger population, etc. Jawga may be a better gig than Missouri, then again there is no Ga Tech in MO, and it does not border Alabama, and Floria to fight for players, either.

Finally, Mizzou has been in the SEC title game twice in the last five years, not SCe or GA.

Personnel would be a better match from the get go.

Well said dMan.

Alabama: Nick Saban says no schools have reached out about defensive coordinator Kirby Smart for their head coaching job, but noted schools would wait until after the SEC Championship Game.

Maryland: San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich and Toronto Argonauts head coach Scott Milanovich are candidates for the Maryland head coaching job, according to 247Sports and CFL News, respectively.

Illinois made their interim coach the full time coach over the weekend. Strangely, he was only given a two year contract.

It was a great call. 2 years on the cheap for a guy who did well under the circumstances. No huge commitment for the school and it gives them time to come up with a better plan if it isn't working out. They were not going to be able to make a splashy hire this year.

There is too much political baggage at Mizzou. I wouldn't want to inherit all the problems going on that are non-football related.

I can see Reich getting that job. Former Maryland and Buffalo Bill's backup QB. Probably wouldn't be a bad hire.

I think Carolina should hire Dan Mullen...every year he wakes up with "Bama, LSU, et al on his schedule...he's losing the best qback in school history and COLA is a heckuva lot nicer than Starkville...

Does anyone see Tulane as a good place for a first time head coach? Pick up the talent that Lousyana State misses, etc? Or is the battle for leftover state talent too tough with other SEC schools poaching what doesn't go to Red Stick?
