I think Calvin is just as good off the line and in his routes but he's nowhere near as good as Amari after the catch. If Calvin gets molested off the line he's gonna have a lot of trouble at the next level - he feeds off clean releases but he's so slight and thin. He gets buffeted around a little too easily. I think he will do well but he's going to have to really grind on his press coverage stuff and his yac.

I think Ridley over-bulked for the combine and it hurt his athletic measurables to help how he weighed out on the scales. Atlanta knows he's an elite 2WR in the NFL and they jumped on him. When you've got a great QB and the best WR in the NFL, you can make this pick. A lot of teams correctly assess that he isn't a 1WR in the NFL but he's probably quickly going to be best 2WR on any team.

Sark got to watch him for an entire season at Bama is why he was drafted by the Falcons. Can't wait to watch him and Julio.

Wilson was on WJOX this morning and he said that the Falcons GM went to him while he was a player and asked about Julio's character. Obviously the review was glowing and they traded the farm to get Julio Jones. I've got to think they went to Julio and asked him what he knew through his Bama connections.

But how many defenses will be able to play press with Calvin, Julio and Sanu on the field at the same time? Plus, Austin Hooper is becoming a solid TE for them. Not to mention their RBs' ability to catch out of the backfield.

Calvin will need to work on some things, but the Falcons are probably the scariest place for him to land. Think back to how the Falcons were with Julio and Roddy White. Two legitimate WR1 guys. They just got that again.

I just read something on FB about Rosen said there were 9 mistakes made ahead of me.

He sure is is full of himself for never played a down yet. I don’t like him already. And he wiill be playing in my Seahawks division.

I don't know. I kinda like the confidence. I don't know much about the kid and his character, but I think a lot of that statement was just trying to tell his new GM that he made a good choice, and you will be happy you made it. Now, if it turns out that Rosen is a total punk like Mayfield, then I withdraw this support.

Rosen was probably the best pure pro passer prospect in the draft. The NFL doesn't like rich guys because they can't own 'em like folks they've just given generational course changing money.

Pleased Ridley went to the Falcons. He won't see much/any double coverage there and I like the Falcons.

True, if they double Ridley, that leave Julio with man coverage. HUGE mistake for a defense. But, I am thinking that Ridley could be as dangerous as Julio in his own way. I heard that Matt Ryan is one of the most accurate passers in the league. That will take some adjustment for Ridley to be able to catch passes in stride . Ridley will have to get used to having the ball paced where it should be placed. I am not a big NFL fan, but I am really looking forward to watching the Falcons passing game this year. Unstoppable.

I agree with this - that the NFL prefers players who are very appreciative of the $$$ and willing to work very hard to earn it. But being wealthy does not mean that Rosen won't work hard. And remember that there are plenty of professional athletes who lose their minds when they get paid and are never the same player. At least, with the wealthy players, the money doesn't change them. Their work ethic is tied to other things, not the money.

There was a fairly big discussion during the season about whether or not the talent level at LSU had dipped. I said it had and most others disagreed. I think the draft so far proves my point. 0 LSU players taken in the first round and really only 2 guys (Guice and Chark) who will probably be drafted today. Auburn, LSU and UT did not have a player drafted in the first round :biggrin:

That is true. He may have grown up with the benefits of his family being educated and affluent but that isn't reflected in his bank account yet. Growing up and being educated in that environment may give him the discipline to not run afoul of the problems that occur so often from sudden wealth. It will be interesting to see a comparison of him and Baker Mayfield down the road. I did think that Arizona was a great fit for him to play near where he chose to attend college.

I loved to watch the Redskins during the John Riggins era. Heck, NFL football was compelling during that era. Now we just watch teams fly up and down the field - no defense and no running games. SMH

I really wanted the 49ers to take Minkah or Rashaan on defense. Maybe they'll take one of the remaining Alabama players before the draft finishes up.

Curious to see who goes in round 2 today. Harrison and Averett seem to have solid chances. Honestly wouldn't mind either on the Redskins but I think they go OL or RB. I'm secretly hoping we grab SDH and/or Bozeman later on. We really need a C/G and could use a young ILB.
