I'm excited for TS's opportunity. It'll be a huge shock if he doesn't win the job. I love he's been patient and resilient to stay with the program in this age of transfer madness.

But it's hard to ignore the possible greatness of KR. The last two guys with this type of hype HS/Football camp hype turned out pretty good. Hope KR has a similar Bama career as Tua and Bryce.

And it seems like AM is just the guy nobody sees, even though he's a giant. The fact he's still around must mean CKD sees something in him too, right?

Nothing toward you Jess, you're just the messenger. But I'm so tired of reading position analysis that has in it "but due to transfers we're going to be thin at this position"......AGAIN.

But, anyway, thank you for the write up, I enjoyed it very much.

I hate it too, but the staff will have to figure out how to use it better than others. The WR Horten from Miami may be an example of us benefiting as well has the RB JessN is predicting could start over Jam Miller. Those would be big wins. Now we'll need to do that on the DL it seems.

I hate it, but I love Bama football more!

Yeah, I hate it to. What makes it worse is it seems we continue to be thin at the positions that win championships. Look at how quick UGA took a step back when they couldn't replace their DL with equal or better talent. The same goes for the OL. If I had a choice of being deep at both sides of the LOS or being deep at WR and or RB, I'd take the LOS all day, every day and twice on Sundays.

With rosters being essentially purchased at this point I'd imagine clever roster management might end up being critical. For instance you blow the bank to sign a QB but you don't invest enough on lineman. Currently with no salary cap a few schools like Ohio State just buy everything, but that's not sustainable. At some point a salary cap or similar function is going to come to college football. When that happens some bean counter might end up being your most valuable staff member.

Absolutely. If you can‘t win on the LOS, you’re not going to win many games

Thanks for the breakdown, Jess. Nice job.

Although the OL and DL development may be the most important factor, the QB competition may be the most interesting. We know a little about TS, but not much. What we've seen so far is promising. OTOH, AM has a lot of potential and he was recruited to UW by our new OC. There is some familiarity there that could be important. And then we have another "generational talent" joining the roster in KR. I think he has the highest ceiling, but it will be interesting to see how quickly he can adjust to the speed at the college level, and the complexities of CKD's offense.

I think all 3 are capable of getting the job done. I think TS is the frontrunner and will probably end up as QB1. But I would not be surprised to see AM or KR ultimately take the reins. I doubt the depth chart will be finalized until after fall camp. It should be an interesting competition.

I'm reserved about this season.

I've still got Oklahoma and Michigan games in my mind. The lack of preparation was so bad.

I'm excited to see Ty get a shot with Grubb as OC.
I get it... "a burnt child...." but it's almost impossible to quantify how much the QB/OC situation handicapped the offense last year.

I also know that a new QB/OC doesn't mean there aren't other concerns like the OL/DL concerns, but I think we should feel very, very optimistic about how much the offense will be "set free."

I think CKD is too smart to let that become a pattern.
Nothing that CKD did last year makes me that optimistic. Still, I hope that it's true and that he's got the stones for this job.

I'm cautiously optimistic but once you show your troops that you can be compromised it's very, very difficult to reassert control. It'll take a real effort to get from where we are to where we want to be from the standpoint of accountability..
