Former NY Rep Charles Rangel, 94, RIP
Admittedly I did not agree with many of his positions on issues, but the man served his country in war, and I was always so proud of him speaking up against Hugo Chavez when the Venezuelan President attacked Bush, saying you don't come into my district and attack my President. We need MORE of that.

I can not stress enough how us 80s kids would absolutely lose our minds at 10:30pm on Saturday nights when this Derringer track hit 🔥
...
His riffs are legendary… Rock and Roll, Hootchie Koo and Free Ride especially.

RIP

Rick's guitar playing was iconic for sure, but that might have been Ronnie Montrose on Free Ride.

I could be mistaken, it's been a minute... :)

Yeah Montrose was lead and Derringer was rhythm. Derringer also produced it. Not sure which one wrote it though.

I think it was Hartman who wrote it. Probably the lead vocal as well.

He was a keyboard guy, but I think he played bass with the EWG.

Regardless, Free Ride was a monster record by a monster group. :)
