I know that Redford was an iconic actor, but in all honesty, the only movies of his I ever saw were "All The President's Men" and "Indecent Proposal."

No, I haven't seen Jeremiah Johnson, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Candidate, or The Sting.
Do yourself a favor and watch The Great Gatsby.

Redford was also the director of A River runs through it in 1992. An absolute classic.

Redford was not a character actor like a Dustin Hoffman, or a Tom Hanks, but a great actor nonetheless. In every movie I ever saw him in, I just saw him as Robert Redford playing Robert Redford. :)

... one kinda under-rated film of his, I really liked, was Three Days of the Condor.

With Faye Dunaway, Cliff Robertson, Max von Sydow, among others.

The sorta film that had me scanning the crowd as I was leaving the theater. :)

Had a film class one time where Three Days of the Condor was deemed an almost perfect cinema script. Redford was an actor in the vein of John Wayne. His screen presence was so magnetic , he was pretty much always himself in his roles.

Thank you! And perhaps a closer look at his achievements as a linebacker in the SEC is warranted here:

Repeatedly referred to as the top linebacker in the Southeastern Conference, Lewis made a distinct impression on rival coaches. Hall of Fame coach Bear Bryant called D.D. Lewis "the best linebacker in the country". Bill Yeoman applauded Lewis' ability to recover and pursue and said he was the finest linebacker he had seen that year. Following the 1967 season, Vince Dooley said he was the best linebacker Georgia had faced – "He's terrific."

Lewis won numerous awards: SEC All-sophomore team (1965), All-SEC (1966–67), SEC defensive player of the year (1967), UPI second-team All-American (1967), and outstanding athlete (1968). At the end of his senior year, Lewis was selected to play in the Senior Bowl, the Coaches All-America Game, and the Blue–Gray Game.

For his accomplishments while at Mississippi State University, Lewis was inducted into the nation's College Football Hall of Fame in 2001. In 1987, Lewis was inducted into the state of Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.[1] Lewis is also a member of the Mississippi State, Blue–Gray Game, Knoxville, Mississippi and Tennessee sports Hall of Fame.

"Only the Lord saves more than Bernie Parent" (Philly bumper sticker circa 1975).

Bernie Parent, the legendary Flyers goaltender who helped lead the franchise to their only two Stanley Cup titles in the 1970s, died Sunday, the team announced. He was 80 years old. No cause of death was announced.

In a release, the Flyers described Parent — who played for them for 10 of his 13 NHL seasons — as “a true legend, one of the most famous and beloved players, and most popular figures in the history of the organization and city of Philadelphia.”

John Penton, who set a transcontinental speed record in 1959 on a motorcycle built for street use and then helped revolutionize off-road racing with his own brand of light, nimble bikes, died on Sept. 7 in Amherst, Ohio, west of Cleveland. He was 100.

His death, in an assisted living facility, was confirmed by his son Jack.

Mr. Penton never lived more than a few hundred yards from the farm where he grew up in Amherst. But he developed a sense of risk-taking and adventure — and a fighting spirit — by playing quarterback and pole-vaulting in high school, and then by serving in the United States merchant marine and the Navy in the Mediterranean and the Pacific during World War II.
