Couldn't they just give a church "love offering" to my foundation in lieu of direct compensation? Or just a donation to my charity from their charity? or to my LLC?
You will be breaking the law by doing that. You can’t have a charity (i.e. 501c org) if it is not a charity.

----
The organization must not be organized or operated for the benefit of private interests, and no part of a section 501(c)(3) organization's net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual.

But what if I donate a certain percentage of my charitable funds to real (or my friends') causes? Can't I just Keep like 95% or greater as "Overhead"? Like, as board member compensation, paid into said board members' retirement funds? Which I could then borrow against?

Are you trying to find a way to go to jail?
Link to IRS site in my above post clearly states: "no part of a section 501(c)(3) organization's net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual."

Regarding paying board members… Yes, that is allowed; however, board members will need to pay taxes on these paychecks

There is no 2027 thread, plus this topic applies to 2026. NIL Has to be reeled in sooner rather than later. I know it has been said before, but money is ruining the sport we love. Or Loved. Seeping down to this level is just ridiculous. How can anyone truly justify paying HS kids this type of money, even if the figures are inflated. No HS kid , no matter how prominent, is worth more than a few thousand dollars . A true NIL payout at this level should only be held by Johnny’s Ace hardware, Luigi’s Pizza, or Connie’s nails. Local merchants with local ties to the community.

If this kid is turning down this kind of money, Thompson HS booster club may be active in keeping kids home. This post may need its own thread.

Thompson actively recruits and has been for years. I have no idea if they can pay out this much but I agree with your sentiment on the types of NIL should be available for HS athletes. It's gotten ridiculous!

I think it is illegal in Alabama to pay NIL.

I will add, I grew up in Center Point in the mid 70’s and played football at Erwin for Coach Bobby Johns and Larry Ferris. We did have sponsors /boosters that we did local events/ placemat ads at local restaraunts, etc that we got comped free meals or just to have our pics out there/ big man on campus. It was fun. I could see kids getting paid for these type events . But that’s it.

Correct. High school players can't recieve NIL payments in Alabama. And states like Georgia have been trying and in some cases succeeding in getting kids to move out of state for football.

Im generally pro NIL but not for minors, or letting billionaires anywhere near kids for any reason let alone signing a contract.

It is illegal but several large 7A schools in Bham area recruit hard. Hoover, Hewitt Trussville, Thompson that I know of. They don't do NIL per se but they give parents houses or apartments in the school district and get parents good jobs, etc... Mountain Brook with Bucky McMillan did it in basketball who is now at Texas A&M and they got top players and won a lot of state championships.

Propst was absolutely blatant about skirting the rules in terms of recruitment during his Hoover days.

It looks to be a post-Alabama-commitment bump. He did not have any stars on 247 prior to Alabama commitment.

Quote:
"He had offers from South Florida, Mississippi State and Kentucky, among others. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Booker does not have a star ranking from 247Sports,"
He can play center. Seems small for Tackle or Guard.

Rush Propst never met a rule about anything that he didn't break. It's a shame he's such a despicable human being. Within the confines of coaching football, he truly is good. All the baggage is the reason he never made it to college coaching.

There are some differences and some commonalities with Jeremy Pruitt. Obviously, Pruitt made it to college ball and Propst didn’t. But as with Propst, Pruitt’s been drummed out of coaching mainly for being such an incredible jerk. And in the context of coaching egos, getting blackballed for being a jerk is quite an accomplishment.

Nick Saban was the only one who could keep Pruitt in line. And yes, Pruitt did coach under Propst at Hoover.

247 shows that he has an official visit scheduled with us on June 20, 2025.
However, we already have 2 top 100 CBs. Not sure that he’d be looking at us.
Yep and we have others we are pursuing that are higher ranked in Arrington from Cali and Hill from Ohio. We may just be a hat on the table......
