Anyone want to elaborate on what point I am wrong about?? Yeah it was great to win...but those are all valid problems, areas that need improvement, and reality.
No team or person is perfect. You make some valid points, but you neglected to mention the things this team does well. I would have to say that the things we do well right now far outweigh the things we still need to improve upon. Enjoy the HUGE win and hope for improvement in the areas you mentioned. Our team is not unbeatable by a long shot, but it will take a very good game by our opposition to beat us. Roll Tide!

1) When we have a big lead at half we still sleepwalk. Sick of it..Play 60 MINUTES FULL THROTTLE!!! 7 points in the 2nd half and that was a pick 6. This type on mental play will get us beat this year by someone if it does not change.

2)Teams know how to shut our running game down now and only Hanks can get open against man-coverage.

3) Julio is good for at least 1 crucial drop every game. He's a 5-Star Athlete, a 5-Star blocker, and a 3-Star Receiver.

4) Defense is still getting shredded in the passing game and only getting bailed out by timely turnovers.

5) Ingram's Heisman hopes are done. 40 yrds??....over
While this is highly pessimistic, there is some truth in it.

Ya know...There's a LOT of factors that the coaches consider that don't even make the radar screen of most fans, even the most knowledgable ones. A team with a substantial lead at half time typically will not take as many chances in the second half...
For example on offense, G. Mc. may pull a ball down and run or even take a sack in situations that he might try to squeeze the ball in, often successfully, in the first half or during either half in close games. They call him a game mgr...and don't think for a minute he hasn't been coached on the big picture....Whle this leads to more punts and less big plays and the impression that we're coasting....it's actually simply a matter of playing the odds. What you seldom see from Bama is them losing a big lead due to turnovers or taking chances...It's easy to assume that we should continue to "mash the gas".....but the truth is...clock management and field postion and playing the odds is as much a part of winning as the rest of it...it just isn't as exciting. And Saban and company are masters of it.
Intensity?? Yep....they're human beings...It takes a monumental amount of concentration and focus to play at "maximum intensity" each and every play each and every week. I'm sorry, it's not always going to happen. How much mental energy to you suppose it took to achive the mindset that was evident in last year's SEC championship? They focused on that game for a whole year! Try as you might, you simply cannont play at that level every week. You can look at Bama teams even in the 70's and find examples of them "playing down" to an opponent..It happens...
CNS knows that the players must overcome the typical complacency and "conservatism" that comes with playing with a big lead..so he pushes them (see his comments at the end of the game..) ... but we as fans should remember that it's terribly difficult...and appreciate the effort that these kids bring week in and week out....and if we catch a loss along the way, so be it...It's a great time to be a TIDE FAN

Grow up Man, We Won Big... Our team beat a much 'Heralded Team' that was ranked #7 in the country. We were not playing La. Tech... (Mooo)

I think your talking about the fact that we won with so little effort.

We played a conservative game plan the second half. SO...
Did you miss the part where Florida's game plan was to stuff the run.
Everyone knows that Jones is a great receiver, so he's nearly always covered like stretch pants on a fat lady. (Go figure)
Was that your complaint?
I seem to remember that we beat a 7 point spread...

Because if we keep playing hard and mentally smart for only 30 minutes out of 60....all that will come to an end. Somebody will catch us sleepwalking in the second half and come back and take momentum and we just might *gasp* lose because of it.

Do you honestly believe that the play calling like last night would be what was called if the game was actually close? I don't think so. That is why the coaches get paid, and we watch.

We crushed this team. We stole their manhood. We left them standing without pants in a cold October rain.

We made mistakes we can learn from, but there was nothing negative about whipping this team, this way on national television with a rocking crowd.

Sheesh man, enjoy the moment.

I sincerely hope that you are a barner....cause that post was ridiculously negative and totally inaccurate.

I wasn't going to post on this thread because I think its a bit ridiculous but just wanted to point out to the OP...go lurk on some UF boards and see what they are saying about our team. Hint...its a different picture than what you've painted. RTR and enjoy the win.:BigA:

I'm not convinced that Bama players lacked intensity in the 2nd half. As pointed out by many already, the offensive and defensive play calling dropped to ultra-conservative.

Bama's running game was opened up by the passing. Bama's running game has been shut down early is several games when teams totally committed to stopping it but opened back up with effective passing.

I think part of me knows where the OP is coming from. I remember, in the not-too-distant past, when we would have a lead, switch to conservative play-calling, and watch as our lead eroded and we would lose the game. Then we'd look at each other, asking "How did that happen?" I hated seeing us go conservative.

But that was then. I think we are in a different place now.

Let''s go...
1) If the other team doesn't score and we're ahead, does it matter?
2) Julio has been open several times, and deep, but Gmac hasn't found him...he will.
3) None of his drops yet have been crucial - Bama is full of playmakers, and there is always someone to step up and make a big play. Bama is not a one-man team.
4) Shredded? Mallett is one of, if not the best passing qb playing in college right now; no one can stop him. Brantley was, what 50%? That's "shredded"?
5) Unrealistic to expect him to win it missing two games, with Bama's schedule. If he had played in those two games and gotten big yardage, he'd still be at the top.

Any more questions, barner?

I thought it might just be me, but maybe not. Julio Jones------- whats up with him. His additude looks like he does not want to be out there. I would think that Nick Saban would not put up with that . What do you think?
I think you're a troll. What is "additude," anyway? Is that in the Lee County library coloring books?

1) Yes it does most certainly matter. It is a mindset of playing a 60 minute game no matter the score. You can watch games from around the country all year long when teams have big leads at the half and come out going through the motions in the 2nd half and the other team comes back and either makes it a nail-biter if not flat out winning in comeback fashion.

A team must have a go for kill attitude the WHOLE game. Does that mean chucking it up down field every play with abandon and risk turnovers?...NO. But a team can still operate the offense with underneath throws and safe checkdowns to the TE's and RB's. Then maybe the defense will back off the line and MI and TR can put it away running the ball. We completely shut it down...AGAIN.

There will be a game where we shut it down and a team that doesn't commit 4 turnovers and go 0-6 in the redzone with TD's comes back to make it a game...and just maybe we won't be able to step on the gas again because we got too used to turning the car off at halftime.

2) Hanks is the only one who consistently gets open in man coverage and makes catches. Maze is a close second. Gmac has found #8 on some deep throws and many other routes but the ball gets handled like a 400 degree potato fresh out of the oven.

3) I will take 9 out of 10 routine catches by Hanks or Maze all day over a couple spectacular catches followed by routine drops. It is the routine drops that are killing drives. I call that crucial.

4) We have given up 559 yrds through the air in the last 2 games with a great deal of that coming in large chunks. Yeah my friend that is getting shredded. It has not cost us yet because of turnovers but we can't expect 3-4 picks every game. We have to learn to get teams of the field because we are covering the WR's and making sound tackles not because they drop a pass or we get pressure at just the right time to bend but not break.

5) It was realistic to expect him to win it even after missing 2 games. He went off for over 300 yrds and 4 Td's in 2 games and everyone who has watchlists and predictors for the Heisman had him right back in the Top 2-3 candidates if not in the lead. The conservative 2nd half play and bend but not break defense that kept FLA on the field for 13 mins of the 3rd qtr. kept him from putting up the stats to stay up there. No it is not a big deal as far as team goals go...but you only have a player like this maybe once in a lifetime and he had a legit shot at going back to back. It is now Denard Robinson's to lose.

I do find it amusing that if anyone tries to point out areas of concern or a need to improve in certain aspects that everyone reverts to the days of being on a playground as a 3 year old and start name calling. 'Barner'...*chuckle*....What would be the point of me even trying to respond to that in defense of where my loyalties are? I could say I bleed crimson till I'm purple in the face but most people on this site don't know 95% or more of the other members in real life so anyone can believe what they want. Do I temper my enthusiasm by focusing on what weaknesses need to be improved upon? Yes. But no I am no 'Barner' as many have said.

Ok
, we've heard your concerns and agree the process is not complete. Now do us all a favor and list the five things you are happiest about relative to this team and this game.

Coach Tusks,

1.Do you realize 6 teams have an off week before playing us? Yes we went "vanilla" in the second half eating the clock. And left the game relatively injury free.

2. Do you think Saban learned anything last year about "gassing" our players? We lacked the dept last year so when we got to Tennesse, we were out of gas, banged up and exhausted.

3. Do you think it is just blind luck that we come up with turnovers in the red zone? Our Db's are young and inexperienced, although improving quickly, they can have break downs in coverage, and allow passing teams to move the ball effectively, BUT as the field shrinks and there is less physical room to run routes, pure athleticism puts a strangle hold on an offense, and they can jump the route for the interception.

4. Do you think there is a better coach in the country, to walk the razors edge of keeping the players motivated, and confident while at the same time not letting these young men get completely full of themselves and over confident.

5. Do you think you could do a better job..........

6. Do you see throngs of fans railing about bone-headed play calling and poor coaching?

Well?............

ROLL TIDE !! :BigA:
