1) Yes it does most certainly matter. It is a mindset of playing a 60 minute game no matter the score. You can watch games from around the country all year long when teams have big leads at the half and come out going through the motions in the 2nd half and the other team comes back and either makes it a nail-biter if not flat out winning in comeback fashion.
A team must have a go for kill attitude the WHOLE game. Does that mean chucking it up down field every play with abandon and risk turnovers?...NO. But a team can still operate the offense with underneath throws and safe checkdowns to the TE's and RB's. Then maybe the defense will back off the line and MI and TR can put it away running the ball. We completely shut it down...AGAIN.
There will be a game where we shut it down and a team that doesn't commit 4 turnovers and go 0-6 in the redzone with TD's comes back to make it a game...and just maybe we won't be able to step on the gas again because we got too used to turning the car off at halftime.
2) Hanks is the only one who consistently gets open in man coverage and makes catches. Maze is a close second. Gmac has found #8 on some deep throws and many other routes but the ball gets handled like a 400 degree potato fresh out of the oven.
3) I will take 9 out of 10 routine catches by Hanks or Maze all day over a couple spectacular catches followed by routine drops. It is the routine drops that are killing drives. I call that crucial.
4) We have given up 559 yrds through the air in the last 2 games with a great deal of that coming in large chunks. Yeah my friend that is getting shredded. It has not cost us yet because of turnovers but we can't expect 3-4 picks every game. We have to learn to get teams of the field because we are covering the WR's and making sound tackles not because they drop a pass or we get pressure at just the right time to bend but not break.
5) It was realistic to expect him to win it even after missing 2 games. He went off for over 300 yrds and 4 Td's in 2 games and everyone who has watchlists and predictors for the Heisman had him right back in the Top 2-3 candidates if not in the lead. The conservative 2nd half play and bend but not break defense that kept FLA on the field for 13 mins of the 3rd qtr. kept him from putting up the stats to stay up there. No it is not a big deal as far as team goals go...but you only have a player like this maybe once in a lifetime and he had a legit shot at going back to back. It is now Denard Robinson's to lose.
I do find it amusing that if anyone tries to point out areas of concern or a need to improve in certain aspects that everyone reverts to the days of being on a playground as a 3 year old and start name calling. 'Barner'...*chuckle*....What would be the point of me even trying to respond to that in defense of where my loyalties are? I could say I bleed crimson till I'm purple in the face but most people on this site don't know 95% or more of the other members in real life so anyone can believe what they want. Do I temper my enthusiasm by focusing on what weaknesses need to be improved upon? Yes. But no I am no 'Barner' as many have said.
