This list isn't very legit if John Parker is ranked above McElroy and there is no 37.? Where is the all time leading rusher and the single game TD and rushing yard record holder for the school? Shaun shoul be in the top 20!!!

They had Copeland and Curry grouped together at 38 and 37.

I can't believe that they left out Shaun Alexander. How does that happen?

No Antonio Langham, George Teague or Roman Harper?
It is a BleacherReport.com article. Any list that leaves off Shaun Alexander is a sham. (I watched the 1996 LSU game and the 1999 Florida Game at the Swamp...not to mention his whole body of work).

I do like, however, seeing a guy I went to HS with and grew up with his brother (Roman...and yes, I'm name dropping) being though of by some as a "greatest player". He did have a hand (or a helmet to be exact) in one of the most exciting "Third" Saturday finishes.

Agree that Don Hutson should be number 1. They also said Julio was the first true freshman to ever start the opening game at Alabama and then two players later mentioned Andre Smith starting every game his frosh. year.

First time I have ever seen such a list that actually has Hannah where I would put him.
I think he is the best football player ever, in college or pros.
Never saw Hutson, but his records and film of him, and what he did to change the passing game, stand on their own.
It should def be Hutson and Hannah 1&2.
I would have Namath and Stabler higher, but if I get to nit-pickin, I'd be here all day and miss work!

Bleacher Report's legendary ability to blow a good story strikes again.

Langham, Teague, Harper, Alexander and Zow all belong on that list.

John Parker Wilson was a warrior, but no way he comes in ahead of McElroy.

I also concur that Hutson and Hannah should be #1 and #2, and the difference between them is so small that I wouldn't argue with either order.

Not a bad list. Obviously, subjective, but there's no way not to leave off a great player or two when you limit the number to something like 50. JPW was the biggest suprise to me, but going strickly by the numbers, he's the leading passer in school history. If we ever get that stud qb that comes in a plays more than 2 years, he'll probably blow some of those qb numbers away, but right now it is what it is.

I didn't know Pat Trammel died of cancer at 28. It is sad that he didn't get to live a long life of being a Bama legend!

And I thought it was most appropriate that the picture of Bobby Humphrie was one when Bama was playing UT. I'll never forget some of those 3rd Saturdays in October in which he lit up UT. Some of my fondest Bama memories!!!

GCT, you mention some good ones there, but you don't think JPW belongs but Zow does??? Wouldn't mind hearing your reasoning on that.

JPW belongs on the list. I said that I think GMac comes in ahead of him because the latter won SEC and BCS titles. Rings count for something. That's why I think Zow and Alexander belong there as well. Those two put the team on their backs and carried them to the 1999 SEC Championship during some very stormy and difficult times.

Fair enough. Agreed that rings mean something...that's the epitome of Bama football. FWIW, I agree that GMac should have been ranked higher...maybe they should have swapped those places.

Caldwell was a Center at the Capstone. Who are these guys that did the rankings?
It's a Bleacher Report post, which is a site where any old shmuck with a keyboard can post an "article." We really need the ADMIN NOTE WARNING back for any BR links posted...

Questionable but interesting. With a program like Alabama is hard to determine the top 50 players. I do like all the OL players that were mentioned.
