I do not remember the launch but do remember the Christmas Eve transmission as the crew orbited the moon and their Christmas message beamed back to Earth. Truly great and brave Americans. Thanks tidegrandpa and bazz. Merry Christmas to both of you and your families.

FYI: PBS aired a nice NOVA documentary of this mission last night. I believe it will re-air on Friday - check your listings. WELL worth watching. Extremely fascinating. I learned a lot of things I didn't know.
