A quick message from a Dude from TN...

Being born and raised in Knoxville, I'm about as true Orange as it gets.I've fussed and cussed and trash talked with every school in existence, Bama being one of the major ones. I've argued, picked on, made fun of and run down any and all schools Tennessee has played. But, with that said, it has ALWAYS been done with a veil of respect! Especially with the top schools in the SEC! Every program eventually goes through it's own tumultuous times and must bite from the ... of despair. Tennessee is currently suffering with a mouth full now.

Most Vol fans did not like the hire of Kiffin but was forced to accept and back the staff. And everyone that I know, would hold their breath every time he would get up to speak. Just waiting on something new to fall and more bullets for the fans to dodge. Though it could not be shown, most hated a lot of what was being done to this program. What was seen after Kiffins announced departure was NOT because Tennessee fans did not want him leaving, it was done because of a few different things. #1 Timing, that staff knew very well that what they were doing would completely cripple this program for many years.
#2 was the fact that even before the press conference was over, Orgeron was on the phone calling recruits to try to pull them to USC.
#3, Kiffin REFUSED to speak to the fans that backed him and welcomed him, his staff and his family. He also refused to allow anything to be broadcast live. And #4 He even refused to speak with any of the parents and even locked himself in his office and refused to come out until the parents were made to leave.

The parents were not looking for blood, they were only to have their questions answered. He also refused to answer questions and stated that if questions were asked during the press conference, he would stop immediately and would leave.

None of this truly matters now and is really not my reason for this post. The true reason for this post is mainly as a thank you. And will be left at many of the SEC forums. Although there have been many that have enjoyed/loved what has happened to Tennessee, the majority that have visited the Tennessee forums have been incredibly encouraging and gracious. Although on the field and in the stands, there is no love lost, there is a semi-sense of respect among most SEC teams. I may not like Alabama, but what you have accomplished is deserved and respected. It was done on the field, it was earned! Congratulations on your National Championship. It should always remain in the SEC!

Yes, I still hope that we destroy you and all other teams next year, yes I will boo your team when they take the field, and yes I will wear my Orange proudly regardless of how well we play! But you have my respect for your accomplishments and today, again I say thank you for the words that some have said during this time. You have my thanks and best wishes for next year! I truly hope you go undefeated again...

Until we get there and beat the hell out of you. :biggrin2:

God Bless
Go Big Orange!!!!!

Welcome to the Board. We appreciate fans from other teams so long as they remain civil and cut out the trash talk.

By the way we are coming to you in 2010 so you will have an opportunity to see the reigning National Champions at Neyland Stadium and I can envisage a tough, no nonsense defense suffocating the Vol attack, and #22 and #3 running up and down the field at will. I do not believe Mount Cody's replacement will need to block a couple this time.

Dude, yall just need to build a program you can be proud of and do it within the established gentlemen rules of the game. Frankly, yall have not had that in while - not with Fulmer and certainly not with Kiffin.

We learned with Dubose, Fran, and Price that winning isnt everything and that character does count for a lot. Same with Fulmer and Kiffin.

Thanks for your visit and I know of many other UT fans who did not ever approve of the Kiffin hire. There were a certain number of UT fans who seemed to revel publicly in all of his antics and I think there has been an amount of "comeuppance" reaction to these particular fans by rival fans around the conference. I, personally, don't feel that way towards all UT fans...

I think my question regarding this remark sandwiched in your post is when we were going through all the sanctions and seemingly week to week fiasco's were you one of those fans that laughed and gawked as we wallowed in our mess? Because much of the disdain for your program from our fan base not only has to do with the spineless Fulmer and Kramer but the UT fans that reveled in our misfortune.

I make no bones about it. I'm loving everything that has happened to UT. It's been a long time comin'. UT still hasn't gotten what they truly deserve.

Re: A quick message from a DudefromTn...

Here's hoping that the Bama/Tennessee game will return to being one of the best and most respectful rivalries in the SEC.

Welcome to the board TnDude.

That seemed to be a relatively honest introductory post.

Your program is going through a rough patch right now, we've been there. I won't lie to you, and say that I'm sorry for you. I'm not.

However, with the right people in place, the proper set of circumstances and a lot of time, things may become more respectful between these two institutions. Coach Dooley could be a step in the right direction.

No, in all honesty, I've never even thought about joining one of Bamas forums. That's a thought that's NEVER entered my mind! Lol. But, after seeing how some folks from other teams have come to our forums and posted with class, I just thought I'd take 5 minutes to come and say thanks. Trust me when I say, I have no doubt that you're loving everything that is/has/will happen(ing,ed) to Tennessee. After all, this is still a major rivalry, is it not? But, again, to answer your question, No I have not been here during Bama's troubles and pain. And although I have no doubt that Tennessee is going to go through further pains, I await the days when we can be face to face and let the outcome be determined on the filled and not by NCAA sanctions. Let the kids and the fans fight it out the way it supposed to be done. Then, what ever happens win, lose or draw, can be thought about for 12 months and the next meeting awaited with unabated passion!

Go Big Orange!

"Most Vol fans did not like the hire of Kiffin but was forced to accept and back the staff."

This is the only problem I have with what you say. We may be forced to accept a hire we do not want, but NEVER should we claim we are forced to back telling lies, cheating, back-stabbing and constant badgering and bragging. In short, I will never be forced to back someone acting like Kiffen and some of his staff.

I will just say it plainly: I will never support or back Coach O. if he is hired at Bama. NEVER. Ditto for someone like Kiffen.

Good post, Dude. Times will probably get better for UcheaT. This may sound like a bash, but your program is only getting what it had coming, and it'll probably get worse before it gets better. I do hope UcheaT once again becomes UT and the rivalry can return to what it was before phat phil.

I appreciate your words but as someone who followed closely the mistreatment of Alabama caused by not only Fullmer but UT boosters and BOT members one who was a convicted criminal himself they fall on deaf ears. I find it almost humorous that UT is going through tough times all by their self without the help of the NCAA though that may change too. There are many UT fans I like yet there are too many who posted on message boards when we were getting hammered for me to forgive much. UT has a lot to ask forgiveness for, much to learn and many sins to pay for before I will like them as much as I used to. I used to have much respect for UT but that cup is empty. Enjoy the world we just left.

Bayoutider, your post speaks volumes for me as well. I do appreciate DudefromTn post. Some Tn Boosters did everything they possibly could to get us the death penalty. I can never forgive that. At the same time not all Tn fans had the same blinders on. It would be great to look on the third Saturday in October with the same anticipation as I once did. DudefromTn, your post was a good one. You have my respect. But don't look for me to look at the Tn football program with a great deal of respect for some time.

I would like to be the kind of guy that can forgive and forget but I guess it's just not in me for the Tenn program. That's all I've got to say about that.

I have several friends who are UT grads and fans. Individually, I kinda feel for them.

But the collective Vol Nation...

Let's put it this way--their pleas calling for "class" and "respect" are akin to a bunch of barbarians begging for mercy just after years of looting and pillaging the countryside. People in and closely connected to UT's administration orchestrated an attempt to destroy Alabama, and the barbarian collective cheered and egged it on.

Seeing the same group wailing in their self-imposed hell--while we celebrate a championship they set out to prevent from ever happening again--it just doesn't get sweeter.

I have lived up here in Knoxville for about 9 years. These UT fans loved every minute of our NCAA sanctions made fun of our coaches and even made fun of the trophy being at walmart. What goes around, comes around. I love every minute of what is happening over at UT right now. You will always be second fiddle to Alabama. You got what you deserve. Deal with it!! ROLL TIDE!!!:BigA:
