A winning season

I think Mississippi State is going to surprise some people. Last years recruiting class was very weak, but the years prior to that they had some strong recruiting classes. Once Croom instills some discipline you'll see MSU playing teams close and pulling out a few surprise victories. We better be ready to play them 4 quarters.</font>

Bama13-0,
I respect your opinion about Miss State football and know you live in Miss and get much more info that I get concerning the bulldogs. My girlfriend is a State Grad and her friends are big Die hard bulldogs fans. And we get into arguments about Bama and State all the time.
I agree that this year 2004 maybe a surprise, since Sherrill had a good class in 2002 when he stopped going after Jr college players. However the 2003 and this years class is poor. They would have to get some Jr college transfers in 2005 to make a team with any size.
If Croom doesn't win some games this year, the "New Black Coach" thing will wear off and kids will again say no to Starkvegas.
I just don't see anything good for State for the next few years.
Look for them to continue to have Maine on their schedule like they are doing this year.
And what is looking bad is that they just signed a six year contract with UAB. And two of the games will be in Lesion Field.
This will be the first SEC team to make a away game with UAB.
That should tell you what the administration expects for the next years.
Anyway just my opinion.

6-5...pessimistic
7-4...realistic
8-3...optimistic
9-2...unrealistic
anything better than 9 wins...miracle

utjughead,
I didn't really say what time frame, I left the OU/Miami reference in regards to Alabama open to all possibilities, but I agree that Alabama's climb back to the top will be tougher than OU's or Miami's.

That's the way it should be.

It's a tougher conference and a higher expectation to reach the top of the SEC than any other conference.
I realistically see Alabama needing 4 full years of excellent recruiting to return consistently to BCS contention.
see LSU UGA
Time isn't on Alabama's side in the short-term outlook, but the long-term is as promising as it's been in appreciable memory.
I look forward to seeing the improvement this year, next year, and every year.

I also look for the return of post-season eligibility to play a large part in the mental game this year. COMPETE!!!
This year (the first year "back") could be better than next year, IMO

I always enjoy your posts, jug.

RTR~!
