ABC, ESPN Shake Up College Football Announcers

Apparently Herbie is going to be a very busy man. He's still going to be on ESPN Gameday and is going to be on the Saturday night ABC games full time this year. What that means to me is either he will have more frequent flier miles than Haley's comet or they won't be doing Gameday from any SEC games. :mad2: Or Notre Dame for that matter, as if we care about that.

I couldn't tell, from the announcement, which just says that he's moved to ABC to do Saturday games. He's a genuinely nice guy, whom I've met. I've even managed to not be prejudiced by the fact that my wife dated him in high school... :D

Some of this cast is merely a circus of rejected clowns . Anyone still think Todd Christensen was so terrible ? :p_conf:

What about Rece? Does he work any games on site? Or is he kept in the studio?

I do like Herbie, though, he is a straight shooter, knowledgeable, and normally has good things to say about Bama..

Another query for those in the know - is FSU an ESPN game?

Thanks..

Rece is a studio guy, unfortunately he's paired with the insufferable likes of Mark May and Granny Holtz. :(

As far as the FSU game, it'll be interesting to see who picks that up. Since it's a "neutral" site game I'm not really sure who (if anyone) has first rights at it.

I'm glad he is a nice guy. That really makes me feel better about wanting him back on the prime time ESPN telecast. I like him a lot better than Mike Patrick. I kind of got used to Patrick over the course of last season but Franklin just has a better voice. He's really easy to listen to and besides, I think he does a great job. Maybe Patrick was just better suited with the NFL brodcasts.

I'm assuming this is to help them finally get a winning team into the BCS game. The past two years their (ABC & ESPN) race horse they rode in on got it's (USC & OSU) legs broken. You would think they could see the numbers and realize that people want to see SEC football. It's more exciting, intense, and fast-paced than any other conference. Except for Auburn of course, everyone has to have a lame duck somewhere:biggrin:

Re: Glad to see Ron Franklin...

...has apparently got out of the Mouse's doghouse. He's the best there is these days, as far as I'm concerned.

I predict Flutie and James together = insufferable.

I...
I really enjoyed Franklin when he was paired with Gottfried, before MG's impairment got so bad.
