I have a feeling one out of Williams, Billingsley, or Lewis will grow into a primarily inside guy (either NG or the end that plays inside the jack)

Bolton will likely start out on offense as an H-back or slot WR.

Scott is still being told offense, but he could be an NFL DB.

Barron could be a LB now with both Lester and Neighbors on board, but safety is what we will gow with for now.

Smelley will be the FB/H-back/TE role.

Alabaster, AL.
I'm not disputing what anyone is saying about BJ, but he seems to have his heart set on playing WR. I read a premium article on him right after he committed and he said Alabama plans to use him like David Palmer and look for different ways to get the ball in his hands. Throw in the fact that CNS says he does not ask anyone to play a position he does not want to play, I'm inclined to think he's going to play on offense. JMO:smile:

I think he is the type of athlete that will excel at whatever position he plays.

I tend to agree with you on this RTO. These guys have good size now and a year or 2 in a college S&C program is gonna pack on some weight and muscle! I look for Bama to go from one of the thinest (depth wise) D-Lines in the SEC to the deepest in about 2 years.

He has mentioned he is open to both, but likes having the ball in his hands...he just wants to play.

Plus, coaches/players say a lot of things to get on campus. Lots of things change quickly once they get that LOI...its a dog eat dog job, just a fact.

Billingsley would be my first guess on who might move inside of those three (he seems as if he's been putting on some weight from the pics I've seen of him lately), then Lewis. I think Williams stays on the outside where his size and reach will make him especially difficult to deal with. I hope BJ stays on offense so we can get the ball in his hands but if he's needed more at DB he'll be good there too. Bolton is interesting, he's a lot like BJ IMO in that wherever you put him I think he'll shine, I guess we'll have to see where he's needed most and where his skills fit best. Barron is in the same boat as BJ and Bolton, just a terrific athlete that would shine no matter where you put him, but with our apparent need at S I think he would fill the need there. Smelley, another great all around athlete, who will quite likely be our "dirty" work guy, the unsung hero so to speak in all likelihood. A terrific class with several great "athletes" that could wind up playing any number of positions. Versatility is certainly the name of the game now-a-days.

Barron is likely getting early PT at S if he understands the defense. If not, he could grow into a LB with a RS year in the S&C. Bolton is a slot WR, I doubt he gets moved. He is outperforming his 5* WR teammate right now. Smelley is the h-back/TE. BJ will be either a WR or CB. I think he could start right away at CB with his athleticism or be in the WR rotation early (I doubt he starts at WR his 1st year).

Could either Billingsley or Williams be moved to TE if we added Harbin or another DE? I know both play TE in HS and seem to be having decent years at the position.

I think it will shape up something like this

U.Billingsley- strong side end
M.Williams- weak end/jack
B.smelley- H-back
C.upshaw- sam
M.barron- fs if we land harris or brown, will lb if we land neither
B.scott- slot recevier and running back, he'll play both, I would say he's a percy harvin type player and will be utilized in a lot of diffferent ways on offense

B. Lewis- strong side end
D. Bolton- WR. I think he will say right here. He is a physical receiver that can pancake a corner or even a linebacker on running plays. That is a skill a lot of receivers aren't good at
D. Hood- WR. Definately a redshirt IMO
D. Square- Strong side end. A lot of people expect him to play DT, but with the addition of kerry murphy we will actually be pretty deep at DT next year, which will enable square to play end. Saban loves those 285 pound defensive ends

R. Lester- CB. With safetys on the board already it makes it easy for lester to get more pt at corner. He is a physical DB , prototype saban corner
