I really don’t care for this move unless it’s a long term hire via a Chess Move.

Nix is a RB Coach who played RB

He coached RBs for a Decade at OM.

When Lane took over he brought his RB coach from FAU but retained Nix for Recruiting and just moved him to WR Coach.

He worked his way up to AHC/WR and then AU hired him as the OC/RB coach.

So the only way this makes sense is if CKD intends to ultimately have Nix Coach RBs or mold him into an OC.

Nix is not really a WR Coach.

We NEED a real WR Coach… Badly.

This is either going to be a 4D Chess Move or more Checkers.

Well, right now the only vacancy is WR coach. The running backs are struggling, who knows what his actual responsibilities will be until the University releases them?

I seem to recall a quite famous Alabama coach who played QB in school, but went on to teach DB's and be pretty successful at it as well... all to say, you don't have to have played that position to learn and teach it.

If you mean CNS he played QB in HS.

If a HS team doesn’t have a true QB they put whoever is the most athletic there and run some form of the Option.

He played DB in College.

Playing RB in CFB is completely different than WR and Coaching those positions is mostly different. There is a tiny bit of overlap but not much.

I trust that Nix knows the RB position inside and out and could teach and coach that well.

WR requirements not so much other than white board knowledge.

Yeah, you certainly can't blame that on Nix. A coach can teach you route trees, stalk blocking, and how to break in and out of cuts, but he can't cure stone hands.

Nvm you are right in this case.

He went back to coaching RBs at AU.

AU WRs were officially not his responsibility.
