Hey Grand Bay,

If I am not mistaken, they don't allow sacks in this game. I could be wrong as I am working from (highly suspect) memory. Throw in the fact that my mind is bad and that explains a lot.

I believe it's blitzing that isn't done in games like this.

I tried to cover all my bases with the disclaimer. You are probably right. I knew it had something to do with protecting the QB. :)

Andre lived up to his reputation. MS stacked the defense to his side but NOBODY got by him. It became a joke watching him push his man 8-10 yds down the field consistently.

I heard the same thing about Andre's performance. He was routinely blocking his opponent so far downfield and away from the play that it was brutally evident and almost laughable. Now, can he do that against an SEC caliber D-Linemen is the million dollar question?

Re: Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game: Alabama 24, Missippi 3

These articles come under the category of better late than never. I can't believe the AP misspelled Mississippi in their title. lol

Alabama 24, Mississippi 3
Captain Munnerlyn returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown to help the Alabama All-Stars beat Mississippi 24-3 in the Alabama-Mississippi High School All-Star Classic in Mobile Saturday night.

Mississippi had 214 total offensive yards, while Alabama managed only 93 but forced two costly fumbles and an interception.

Alabama's win avenged last year's 21-18 defeat at the hands of Mississippi, and gave it a 13-6 lead in the series.
Alabama's "Mr. Football" leads against Mississippi's All-Stars
The Alabama All-Stars may be facing a challenge as big as highly touted offensive lineman Andre Smith when they face a Mississippi team fortified by players blown in from Georgia and Louisiana by Hurricane Katrina.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Smith, the state's Mr. Football and a University of Alabama signee, leads Alabama against Mississippi in the annual All-Star Classic Saturday night at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Mississippi snapped a six-year losing streak in the game with a 21-18 victory last year, and got an unexpected influx of defensive talent due to the Aug. 29 hurricane that ravaged the Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans.

Bama all-stars pull away on Mississippi turnovers
Alabama scored two touchdowns in a span of 14 seconds in the third quarter Saturday night and downed Mississippi 24-3 in the 19th annual Alabama-Mississippi all-star football classic at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

With the win, Alabama improved its record to 13-9 in the series and avenged last season's 21-18 loss.

"We didn't want to come down here and coach a team that got beat," said Alabama all-stars coach Joey Jones of Mountain Brooks.
State of Defense
Alabama coach Joey Jones said before Saturday's Alabama-Mississippi High School All-Star Classic that the game would be determined by defense.

With predictions like that, perhaps his next stop should be Vegas.

Alabama forced three Mississippi turnovers, turning all into points at the other end to take the 19th annual All-Star Classic in convincing fashion with a 24-3 victory at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Darn. I missed the game. I thought it was this coming Saturday. Will it be re-televised and if so do any of you know when and where?

The game was not shown live for the second straight year. Reportedly it well be shown on tape delay 3 times this week. I don't have any details. Check your local listings.

If they don't allow sacks they forgot to tell the Bama D, they were all over the MS QBs. The DL was trying they just couldn't get by Andre, David, Chris, and Brian.

I ran across this on another board. The game will be televised tonight (7 June) at 6:00 p.m. CST on CSS and again on Friday and Saturday around lunchtime.
