Two players on the Alabama roster including DT Shackleford have been sent home for behavior...not sure exactly what. Shackleford has been replaced by Jamar Travis.

That is incorrect. It was Pilson that was sent home and replaced by Travis.

Alabama Squad Near Ready; 2 Players Dismissed

Alabama added two more players to its roster Thursday afternoon, defensive lineman Jamar Travis of W.S. Neal and defensive back Keairon Wilson of Davidson, as the sixth and seventh changes made on the 37-player roster since Dec. 1. Travis and Wilson participated in the afternoon drills held at UMS-Wright Prep School.

They replaced Jamontay Pilson of Greenville and Justin Anderson of Foley, who were removed from the roster Thursday morning for undisclosed disciplinary reasons. Steve Bailey, Director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association, had no other comments about the dismissal.

Who will be watching for Bama today? I'm sure some of the staff but I'd think CNS may be in town again.

The video linked just above has some good info on the game match-ups. The only two Bama commits are on the Alabama squad. They are QB A.J. McCarron and LT D.J. Fluker and they will be two to keep an eye on. Also keep an eye on Alabama prospects WR Kendall Kelly and CB Dre Kirkpatrick. I expect them to do very well in the game.

On the Mississippi squad I will be watching WRs Kevin Norwood, Pat Patterson and Chad Bumphis and DE Fletcher Cox. Bama has a good shot at signing all four of those guys. It should be a good all-star game with plenty of action.

ALABAMA-MISSISSIPPI ALL-STAR FOOTBALL CLASSIC NOTEBOOK

Yeager is in town this week coaching the line for the 22nd annual Alabama-Mississippi Classic All-Star football game today at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

He can spin stories about Alabama All-American Andre Smith. He had Smith in his line camps for several years. He's a big fan.

But Smith is now the second best high school offensive lineman he's seen. That's because of D.J. Fluker. The 6-foot-7, 355-pound left tackle is now the best Yeager has ever seen. It's not even that close.

Fluker - an Alabama commitment - has impressed him that much. Tuscaloosa Central coach Melvin Pete said Fluker moves like a 6-foot-3 tight end.

Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic rosters full of soon-to-be SEC players

When Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron drops back to pass today, his blind side will be protected by D.J. Fluker, a 6-foot-7, 340-pound mountain of man.

Crimson Tide fans should probably get used to that image.

McCarron and Fluker have been committed to Alabama for months, and today will be the first time they've played on the same team in a complete game. The teens said they expect today's game to be the beginning of a promising football friendship.

D'Iberville's Bell does it all

The roster lists Jacoby Bell as a defensive back. But Mississippi's preparations for today's Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic indicate he's much more.

Bell has lined up all over the field for Mississippi in practice this week. He's expected to start at middle linebacker, could fill in at cornerback and play tight end in short-yardage formations

And then there's his role on special teams. Today, Bell will be punting, snapping on field goals and extra points and playing on the kickoff coverage, kickoff return and punt return teams.

Malone Joins Alabama Stars; Radio Network Set

The Alabama High School Athletic Association Radio Network (AHSAA Radio) has announced a statewide network of stations will carry the live broadcast of the Alabama-Mississippi Classic Saturday.

The all-star football game will be played at 1 p.m. at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Alabama holds a 14-7 edge in the series that dates back to the game’s inception in 1988. This is the second year the game will have been played in December. The previous 21 were played in June. Randy Lee of the AHSAA Radio Network said the stations on board will give the state close to blanket live coverage. Al.com will also audio stream the game live over its website.

QB Russell, Mississippi won't shun run

"We feel good about the four running backs we've got and the offensive line, too," Boyles said. "I don't think we're going to go out there and run it for 200 or 300 yards, either, but we've got to run it enough to keep them honest."

If that happens, Russell thinks Mississippi's passing game can find its rhythm. Tupelo's Chad Bumphis (who's also Russell's backup at QB), Taylorsville's Billy Hamilton, D'Iberville's Kevin Norwood and Noxubee County's Pat Patterson have been among the team's most impressive players since practice began Tuesday.

All-Star Classic officials confirmed Friday that the game will not be televised live nor shown on a tape-delayed basis.

It's to bad about the television, there are some good matchups I would like to see. Fluger vs Cox for example will help give information about both players. Not to mention Kirkpatrick against the different WRs MS has should be interesting. Guess will have to wait and see what people have to see after the game that get a chance to see it first hand.
