Being honest, the best thing that could happen for Alabama would be Milroe leaving for the draft. If he stays, he has to win the job or the locker room will be destroyed, and that is no way to run a team.
I don’t like the thought of having to go to camp Randall game 2 with a new quarterback but I wouldn’t be totally opposed to it at this point.

I think it's game 3. We've got Western Ky and USF first two games at home. I understand your point, but with those first two games at home a lot of good can/should happen IF there's a change.

But therein is the problem. JM will make mince meat of the first two opponents.

The sugar bowl was a stark contrast in QB play. It really showed the shortcomings of JM since it was right after our game. He's limited in how he reads a defense and the types of throws he can make. We overachieved with him as the QB. When there are only certain plays you can run successfully, it does not take a genius DC to scheme against you. That scheme had been run before and worked. We'd seen that the OL was prone to poor play....second half of AR, first half of UT, most of the USF/Barn games....inconsistent OL + limited QB and we still had this in our hands to win...we overachieved but its frustrating the way it ended.

The things Milroe does bad you can’t learn in college. You learn in 8th grade football maybe high school but you either know it or you don’t. Can’t read a coverage can’t find a blitz can’t check down. Great athlete but cost us games.

Milroe had amazing plays and made some NFL throws this season. But he hasn’t shown he can do the ordinary play or do any one part of his game consistently. That is a killer not only for offense but kills the d when you’re offense goes 3 and out 3 plus times a game and the other option a lot of times was a quick score to put d right back out as well. Idk if he can improve the part of the game he lacks. But happy he for him that he did what he did and appreciate his effort and drive. With that said not sold on wanting him as the qb for my team. But time will tell I mean Daniels didn’t look great till he did granted was always a better passer than Milroe.

He also won us games. Last night, the competition got better. The opposing coaching got better. Our yearlong flaws were exposed. Everybody looked a step slow, and Michigan turned out to be a much better team than most of us ever imagined.

The End.

What's weird is i feel like JM improved, but he also seemed to regress the last few games. Maybe some defensive adjustments to exploit his weaknesses?
In tough situations guys like Milroe revert to talent over teaching.

that is the issue with almost every athlete playing quarterback, when the chips are down and “bullets” are flying, these guys revert back to high school where they didn’t need fundamentals to be the best player on the field.

Milroe’s fumble is exhibit 1. Goes to put the ball away from the defender, but stops mid motion and keeps the ball in his right (?) hand , the one closest to the defender.

I dont agree that they were better than we thought....with the domination on the line and the lack of offense from us they should have been ahead 2 or 3 TDs at least if they were an elite team..but they were average on offense. Our mistakes and one or two fortuitous bounces got them their points by sustaining drives etc....thats why even an average offensive performance would have been enough for us to win this game..ifs and buts as they say but i dont think UM is that great

Were it not for the disparity in special teams play, the point gap would have been far greater. On every other front, Michigan was the better team.

We've been saying for months that we were not the same team that played Texas. In fact, Michigan showed us to be the very same team after all. The two best opponents on our schedule exposed the same flaws and limitations that we were able to scheme around for the rest of the year.

I agree with this. It’s puzzling to me why UGA didn’t pressure us more. Our OL looked great partly because of the scheme Georgia ran against us.

Look, when your QB can’t throw a slant, can’t throw a screen, can’t throw short balls, can’t find an outlet RB, can’t ever see the TE, can’t change plays at the line against the blitz, and can’t read an RPO, then you’re going to have trouble with defensive pressure. Your OL looks bad, and your play calling looks bad. Maybe they’re just handicapped by the play of the QB. Milroe had 116 yds passing in this game. Not in a qtr, not in a half, in the game. He’s consistently late delivering the ball to his receivers. And his mechanics are poor - he’s all arm, and tends to throw off of his back foot constantly.

BoB has forgotten more about football than we know. He thinks Milroe isn’t a QB. Argue with him if you want to. I’m hoping Sayin or Lonergan looks great, and Saban isn’t too stubborn to play somebody else next year.
I think Saban learned with the Hurts/Tua situation, but he has to be willing to do it again. I know people didnt have as much confidence in Simpson, but there were many situations where Milroe missed open receivers, didnt get rid of the ball when he needed to and one or two glaring situations where he should have just tucked it an ran for his life...................I hope there is an open QB competition in the Spring, and I hope all of them are given a fair shot at it, because I think Milroe has hit his ceiling and wont go higher

If you’re qb can’t throw a wr open or hit check downs then you’re in trouble. If your center can’t snap the ball on top of that it’s hard to win especially as much as we did this year. Yes Milroe won some games on amazing backyard moves but would we have been in that situation with a guy that can do the ordinary routinely? I don’t see how wrs aren’t upset like the Hurts/Tua year to be honest. Bond has become a heck of a player, blocking his tail off and making great catches. At some you feel bad for guys like that while appreciate how hard Milroe works and plays. But the oline and center especially have not helped a ton.

I don't think JM has hit his ceiling, but I also don't think he deserves to learn how to bet better "on the job" next year.

He's got flaws that 10th grade QBs struggle with. He needs to either make incredible improvement in the off season* OR take his Covid year and sit and learn how to be a real QB. If he tries to play thru it at Bama I don't think it'll end with what we want next year.

*I'm not sure there is enough time to fix the fundamental issues he struggles with like reading defenses/vision/timing in one off season. I think he's mile behind where Hurts was at this stage of his time at Bama. And it has to start with learning how to read the RPO as the defensive end takes him or the running back. He can't even do that yet.

Either you see the field or you don't. Jay Barker had a famous moment at practice where the clouds parted. But most QBs at this stage don't undergo a miraculous transformation. Whatever progress Jalen makes from here on out is far more likely to be by degrees. That said, he still may be the best option in the room. He clearly had won the locker room. Will he keep it?

I'm not confident those issues can be fixed quickly.................its just an opinion, but I think he's set in his ways and taking the Frank Sinatra route aint gonna cut it. I think he needs to work his tail off, but also be given the understanding that there are others behind him and they will be given a shot at winning it

So how soon does Ty Simpson announce he's hitting the portal?

Does what he saw last night give him pause OR is his mind made up?

I do wonder if Milroe still believes that they should "give him the m^%$#^ f#@*(^g Heissman, as he so loudly proclaimed after the Auburn game. Despite this silly emotional outburst, I happen to like the kid. The issue is imo that this was his THIRD YEAR in the system. I am 100% sure that BOB was detrimental to his development, but I also think that most of us knew deep down that he was far from a finished product, or an effieient QB.

We can talk all we want about the bad snaps that have plagued him this season. That said, Milroe is to blame for some of them. He is sometimes looking everywhere but at the center before the snap. The announcers claimed that Saban was correcting him about this on the sidelines. Milroe is a superb runner. He has a very strong arm too. Is he a good passer? Not really. Sometimes he seems to take forever to find open receivers.

Here is the bottom line.....If Hurts, Tua, Mac, or Bryce was our QB yesterday, is there any doubt that we would have won this game? Would we have had a mere 116 passing yards? Would any of thse QBs have averaged a horrid 5 yards per passing attempt? I think that the answer is a resounding NO to all of these questions.

If Milroe is the starting QB, so be it. Coach Saban is the GOAT and knows what he is doing. That said, I hope that Simpson doesn't transfer out and that the new kid is given a chance to compete.

I'm just "Sayin."

Good question.................cant speak for him, but if it were me, I'd work my butt off and go into spring and try to wrest the position away from him. I think every other QB on the roster has a high ceiling and could potentially beat him out
