  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Saban wanted players to do the little things right as much as possible before they played. I think it was a valid philosophy but it's definitely not the only one or the only way to be successful. So I think some of the time the loyalty was really wanting the younger player who may be more talented to do specific things better. For example does the RB pass block, does he follow the right hole, etc.

I am curious to see where DeBoer lands on the spectrum though. I think what will be telling is how much playing time guys like Odom and maybe Ryan Williams get at WR

I will be very surprised if RW doesn’t get on the field sooner vs later.

He’s just crazy explosive and is a threat to score on any given touch.

He’s really young obviously so he could take a bit to develop.

But if he picks things up somewhat fast it will be very hard to keep him off the field.

Plus as Padre alludes we are entering a time where you have to get guys that talented some meaningful playing time or the danger of them looking for greener pastures (double meaning) is real.

If OL is going to pout about someone other than JM being the starter, I would prefer they do it against WKU than Wisky or UGA...

I think it's imperative that CKD play the QB who involves most of the offense, moves the chains, and doesn't turn the ball over. Not just the QB that can bail out of a bad play.

I think if JM is the starter past week 3, then its because our OL is still an issue in protection and short yardage runs.

I could obviously be very wrong by Ryan Williams doesn't strike me as someone who would transfer after 1 year. He seems to be a Bama guy and wants to be here. But I could be very wrong

WR need to learn things but they typically get on the field faster than RBs. Being uber-talented like Williams and Odom will help!

Jim Harbaugh said his players could see in his eyes he was confused and believes that Jalen Milroe is simply a "real polished" version of a QB buried on Michigan's depth chart. I didn't need Harbaugh's opinion to confirm that by this late point in the season. He certainly improved from the Texas game onward last season and should make substantial improvements going forward. He definitely has room for significant improvement.
Did he improve? Or did he simply have less chances to make mistakes, i.e. a simplified offense, as the season went on?

I thought that he made some decent throws against Texas A&M. I had to admit that he had improved but it was difficult for him to sustain that. In reading the long debate on here since seasons end I have come to realize how much improvement there was in Alabama's Defense after Golding and that made all of the difference in allowing the offense to sputter the way it did much of the year.

Thanks for sharing the quote.

I know CKD is praising JM, but I don't think your sharing this quote does any favors for pushing the idea that JM is healed of all his diseases.

All I hear when I read this is JM is basically a dynamic athlete who can escape the pocket and run when he chooses to do so.

What I'd rather hear him say is JM is growing as a drop back passer being able to read the defense, spread the ball around to his receivers by going thru progressions and accurately throw it into tight windows for tough completions that move the chains on 3rd down.

Let's face it. JM's reputation is someone who has big holes in the passing game that is only held together because he's a dynamic athlete. It may be determined JM's "game" is the best we have in the QB room and he's given the job again next fall. But, I think most of our fan base would prefer to see a QB who is more of a dynamic passer who can also run when needed. That seems to be the type of QB that CKD wants to run his offense with the most efficiency.
Well, he's not perfect. None are. Mistakes will be made by all quarterbacks. But I think we see a huge improvement over last year.

He will be great I think. But he is a freshman. Has no college game experience. I think he'll solidify a starter or rotation spot by mid season, if he's as good as we hear.

Sounds like Ty had another good day according to most of the people who were there. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I just read elsewhere that he was cooking the defense with his Arm and Legs.

Looking really sharp and getting the ball out fast to the right guys.

Said to look like a perfect fit w/ CKD‘s system.

The staff had to start whistling plays dead to help the D!!!

Seen someone say Ty had two passing TDs and a favorable whistle for the defense on what would’ve been a rushing TD.
Lonergan with a TD pass to Odom
No info on milroe that I’ve seen yet
No T/O again for the QBs which might make me worried about DBs a tad but they are young and will grow up quick.

The ON3 guys says Milroe was "steady" but as a positive. He also apparently only took reps vs 1s. Ty had some vs 1s and some vs 2s I guess. Again this is according to the ON3 guys.

There is a noticeable drop off between our 1’s and 2’s at receivers. Ty and Mack’s stats are way off because of it. When Ty was in with the 1’s he was by far the best quarterback on the field and it wasn’t even close.

Who was the starting receivers and who looked the best of the group?
