Alabama vs. Kentucky

After Tulane and the second half against the Dawgs, it's more likely we'll come out focused and ready to play - we better be.

Bama 34
Kittys 10

On a side note. Their Sports Anchor is the states AP voter. He has Kentucky at #23 and Bama at #2.[/quote]

Undefeated KY should be ranked. But, a 1 loss KY team falls out of the top 25. :)

BAMA - 49
KY - 17

I think UK's d-line will cause us some early trouble, then we make the adjustment and get rolling in the 2nd quarter. I think UK's offense will have much difficulty moving the ball. I say:

Bama - 31
UK - 10

17-10 Bama.

We don't get quite the push we need on OL vs their DL and JPW struggles a bit when forced to throw this much but still goes 13-30 with a TD and 2 INTs.

We score on the opening drive but go flat when they adjust to our game plan. We get another score to lead 14-0. They get a score on special teams and turn one INT into a FG to come within 4 but we get a long 3rd Q field goal to get to the final margin.

I don't believe Kentucky is anywhere near as good as GA or even Clemson. I think we have the chance to put up another 40-or-so points on the Wildcats.

Bama 48
Kentucky 13

P.S. This could also be JJ's (#8) breakout game.:BigA:

No way does their "vaunted" offense score even 2 TD's against our big D.
JPW will add to his list of records, and Bama improves to 6-0. Rich Brooks will finally admit that his little kitties are no match for this herd of pachyderms.

Seems like a lot of UK players like wearing earrings (not that there's anything wrong with that)

I originally was thinking Bama wins 40-17, but like some of you I think its going to be hard for KY to score on this BAMA defense. It took a talented Stafford/Uga team a whole half or so before they could do it and was spurred by a special teams punt return/breakdown for a TD to do it.

Bama has scored at least 40 pts in the last three games and I'm hoping they keep up the trend against a 'rebuilding year' KY team.
So I'm now thinking the score will be more like...

40 :BigA:
10 KY

I think KY could score a TD on special teams on a punt/kick return though. They are pretty good.

I believe UK's D will be the best we have faced this year. CJM will call a good game though and our young men will be focused.

Gameday is upon us! Since I'm up waay to late inhaling massive quantities of Crimson Koolaid, here is my fearless prognostication (fearless because I ain't putting any money on it)

I like UK better than any SEC Least team except Vandy. Great B-ball tradition, and once had THE coach on their sidelines. That said, my Koolaid enhanced take on the game is this:

UK's defense: I know they've got the number 1 scoring defense in the conference (Which I'm sure coach Saban has pounded into our guys' heads frequently this week); but that was against Louisville, Norfolk State, MTSU, and Western Kentucky. (not exactly offensive juggernauts) Now it's time to prove they can do it against the best offensive line and running backs they'll see this year. So far this year nobody's passed that test. They can't stop the Ingram, Coffee, Upchurch express without putting eight in the box. When they try that JPW will pick their secondary apart just like he did UGA.

As for our players' attitudes: Bama had the perfect half last week against UGA to announce their intentions for the year, and then followed it with the perfect half to make them understand that they can't get complacent or over-confident. I drink the Koolaid freely and; since I'm not on the field, there's no harm in enjoying the ride I've had so far. At the same time Coach has the koolaid off-limits to the team. All of the player interviews intimate respect for UK, so I don't expect a letdown this week; they know there's no day off against any SEC team.

UK's offense consists mainly of four running backs, an average QB, and one truly reliable target (the other's have way too many drops). Bama's run defense has tested it's metal against Davis, Spiller, and Moreno, and they combined for a total of 54 yards on the ground. Our Secondary is second to none in the SEC with Woodall and Arenas proving any doubters wrong against the best QB in the SEC (possibly the country). He had one good drive against UA the whole game, and the others were all short field scores with the game out of reach.

If not for their special teams (Kick Returning in particular) UK wouldn't score a touchdown this game; but unfortunately I do expect them to have at least a couple of big returns that either will result in special teams TDs or will leave UK with a very short field to navigate. I hope I'm wrong, but I've seen nothing to give me any confidence that I am. Add a couple of field goals, and I won't be surprised to see them score more than Clemson, but less than UGA. Final score :

Bama 34, UK 20.

Bama 35
Ken. 7

The Kentucky D is untested, they haven't seen an O line like ours. We run down their throat and then JPW hits a few throws to JJ and the bunch. As far as our D, their offense is anemic and again untested. THEY WILL NOT RUN! So that leaves Hartline with the game on his shoulders and he throws atleast 2 picks. We Roll on to 6-0.
