I'm not sure how much of a chance he stands at DB or WR.

WR we have Ryan Williams, Bernard and Horton as a clear top 3. And then Scott and Brooks have both made some noise at different points.

Just at CB we have Domani, Brown, Calhoun & the apparent star of a TF in Dijon Lee. Then at S we have Sabb, Hubbard as the clear top 2. DaShawn Jones is the expected nickel. Then we have a bunch of other talented guys he would have to battle ,even if some of them are TF, in Mincey, Kirkpatrick Jr, Ivan Taylor, Red Morgan even Chuck McDonald.

I know Mbakwe was a 5 star and is talented but I'm not 100% where he lands on our depth chart at any position he would play. I would be moderately surprised if he is a significant contributor this year.
I am hoping he surprises and makes noise at the WR position. Kid was the best player on the field in high school and played multiple positions. Sometimes it is hard for guys like him getting to college and suddenly not the best athlete on the team. He has the talent and I am pulling for him.

He could be the next Travis Hunter and I’m still not a fan of his portal stunt.

I’m not a fan of most of the new crop of CFB players.

There is probably a very small amount of guys on our own team that really want to be at Alabama specifically because it’s Alabama.

I’m having a very hard time being supportive of these cats who will just jump into the portal if they aren’t getting exactly what they want and how they want it… be it Playing Time, a Specific Role, or NIL monies.

If Mbakwe finds himself without a role it won’t hurt my feelings.

One of the most interesting things to watch, at least for me, is what happens with Mbakwe. Will he rise to the top of the depth chart as a WR or will he need to move back to defense to get more playing time. He appeared in 12 games last year on D. He seems to have confidence but does he have thephysical tools and talent to muscle someone out of a starting spot on offense?
He definitely won't start but he could have a role. He will need to be patient but not sure he will. Best friends with Ryan and seeing him be a star and him just having a role may be reason to move on but we will see.

I'm guessing Hale and Adams will also be ahead of Mbakwe at WR.

I figured I would post this article here. Lotzier Brooks has gotten faster since he came to Bama a few months ago according to ex-coach and QB. For reference, it was reported he was the fastest HS player in the 2025 class.

He's short at 5'9", but sure can move downfield and catch. Derek Meadows will also be good. He's tall at 6'5". Isaiah Horton is also tall at 6'4".

I wouldn’t even hazard a guess as to what goes on between the ears of an 18 or 19 year old in a situation like this, particularly in these times of insanity that is “ college “ football today.

On the previous playoff discussion I don't put much stock in non playoff bowl game performances. Alabama's head was not in that game at all. Much like most of last season. In that regard I do agree they didn't belong in the playoffs.

On Mbakwe, there are at times 6 DB's on the field and they almost always rotate to some degree, there are always way more playing opportunities at DB than WR. There are generally 3 to 4 on any given play at WR and rotation isn't as common because they have to be in sync with the QB. So I hope Mbakwe's heart is REALLY into WR because it might be another year before he plays significantly where he would be in a solid rotation at DB had he stayed at the position if not a starter.

on the depth chart my questions are at RB. Jam Miller defaults in at 1 due to experience but I don't know if he's the guy and the rest we haven't seen enough of. We need someone who's going to get RAC yards.

TE is really critical in this offense and I'm not sure how they are going to rotate those guys.

Right Tackle is a mystery

Defense is really experienced. They have an opportunity to make noise there.
