Now that we've got some signatures from the early signing period and knowing the needs that we need to fill. Whether that be the DL, LB positions etc. How do y'all think we did on filling needs so far? I know Earle made mentioned in one of the post game threads either from the Iron Bowl or the LSU game that we'd "missed" on several positions/players during the last few recruiting classes. Does it appear that we will rectify those "misses"? I know the guys still have to show up, go to class, make the grades and go through "The Process". But does this class appear to be a class of "fixing" and getting back to the talent and quality of a few years ago? Ready. Set. GOOOOO!!!!

So, there really has been no let off in recruiting. In all the years Nick has been on campus our worst class other than his first year in 2007 was a couple of years ago and I think we were 5th. So, we have had 10+ years of top rated recruiting classes. Our problem the last couple of years has been a combination of INJURIES, staff turnover and some Juniors leaving when they should have stayed and played. Finally, our top two recruits from the past two years have transferred.

This is an awesome class as is right now and fills needs everywhere. Yes, we did miss on some but that always happens. Just can't get them all. There also may be a silent or two who will announce at all star games which could bolster this class. But I am satisfied. We have some serious studs in this class and will go a long way to getting quality depth where needed. Just got to keep the staff together and avoid injuries.

Other than the obvious lack of a top-flight prospect at TE in this year's class, I think the larger part of our misses have come after signing day.

In other words, we signed most of the folks we wanted, disappointments in the 2016 class acknowledged. To my mind, the ones we signed and who didn't work out for whatever reason, hurt far more.

A couple of DBs, the LB from Washington whose name escapes me at the moment, the infamous saga this past year of Alfano, the TE who left even though he'd probably be starting. Couple that with three years of injuries of Biblical proportion, compounded by early departures to the NFL, and you have what we saw this season....a good but not elite team that just missed being able to compete with the truly top flight.

I love the class. It addressed defensive need although they still have to be developed. These guys along with last years class establishes depth at positions depleted by early departures and injury. I do believe as we continue to get 4 and 5 star players we are now in a 3 yr scheme and players that stay for 4 yrs will be the anti type, but a blessing. It appears that Clemson, Georgia, LSU, and Ohio St will be victims of early departures soon, as we are now. But few are the schools that get as many quality players as these. These exceptional athletes are now being schooled at an early age by collegiate coaching camps, private trainers, and moved to the top high schools by parents who want their kids to play with and for the best possible in order to obtain any advantage possible. Oh yeah, the RB room is going to be crowded. I see some of those guys transferring after the dust begins to settle.

It's impossible to replace what we are losing at WR, but there's a couple playmakers in this class.
We got some speed off the edge signed, and we added GOOD depth at ILB. Not much of a question mark in those signees.
QB and RB are restocked.
Inside DL is pretty good, wouldn't mind another difference maker there.
WE have so many bodies at OL that I think we didn't do much there and will probably be a focus in 2021. I think we got another cerebral type with OC which has been missing lately.

On paper this class is fantastic...in 3 yrs we will know how it plays out. I will add that the SEC is just getting stronger and stronger...having a run like we've been on the last 10+ years will be harder than ever...

The class is clearly impressive. Love the linebacker and edge rushers signed. And I think Young might end up being one of the best recruits in the Saban era. Just think there was a failure again with the wide receiver and tight end classes. Don't understand that part with Tua here this year and Young for next year. Don't understand why the top guys did not jump onboard.
