Just saw this story. It's getting some run from media members. Any truth to this or just sour grapes? Just weird to being up Alabama considering the context of the interview..

I know most don't care for these media members but just showing the narrative they're creating. I like how Wolken calls Steen a former Alabama "star" lol. I don't think anyone outside of Bama and maybe the SEC knew Steen when he played here. I'm not being disrespectful to Steen but I think Wolken is reaching to call him a star..

If he feels that way then he shouldn't have played. Nobody can force you to play. This sounds like an excuse to me.

Steen can talk about himself as much as he wants to. Saying "an awful lot of Alabama players are hurt" is not supported by the numbers. Sounds like a combination of pity party and sour grapes to me. And of course, Steen is probably clueless about how Alabama compares to other programs. Or at least he doesn't know much more than we do. Of course, no one in the crack journalism corps bothered to say, "who, for example?" No need messing up a good story with, you know, facts.

But Bama fatigue and anything that makes CNS look bad is going to get all kinds of press because people want to believe the worst. And writers want clicks and retweets.

It's a free country, he didn't have to play. But I'm thinking like JustNeedMe81, probably taken out of context.

And I'm completely shocked that something negative about Alabama and CNS is coming out of Miami. Never woulda thunk it.

I have no doubt if it was serious enough injury where surgery was needed right then & there, Alabama would have it done pronto, but, if it's a case where a player can play or finish the season or postpone surgery until after the season is left up to the player..It was Steen's decision to play through the injury..Players work their backside off earning spots on the team, I played my senior season in high school with a shoulder injury, despite the pain, I didn't wanna lose my spot or let my team down in the process..

..and Bama's poor treatment of you is making you how much money Anthony?
I tell you what, retire, move to Nashville and try to become a success as a country singer, like Grandma wanted you to do.
You think Bama's cruel my friend. You don't have a clue. Nashville will chew you up and spit you out, and you may not make a dime, no matter how many injuries you have to your ego or how hard you try.
Crimson Audio will back me on this one. He has done well, but I'm sure he's seen far more go home broken hearted than staying and celebrating.
I love Nashville, but the Music industry is much tougher than the NFL or college football.

Steen still has an Alabama picture as his profile pic and info in his profile. His timeline is filled with him pulling for Alabama this season. Makes the comments even more bizarre..

Funny our players perform at such a high level to be hurt all the time. People go to work every day hurt or in pain, I did at times from the beginning till I retired. Was nothing new or some great revelation that I did so. Sounds like snowflakes in the media are looking for their participation trophies.

This is why Saban and other coaches don't trust the media. Also the Saban didn't vote articles which were false..

To sum up his clarification he says what he says What he mean my was that bama players are mentally tough and are able to play through more than at other programs. Then says the reporter took him out of context. Ends the statement with a roll tide.
