In would think CUSA would at least take a look to see what they had to offer. Troy really needs to get some better competition to promote home attendance. This year probably did not help at all!

I lurk on the Extention Center message board and they seem pretty much oppsed to Troy joining C-USA. They seem to think it would boost Troy in the public's eye and help their recruiting.

Gee, they don't want to do something to help a lower level instate program suceed. Hypocrisy, thy name is Alabama-Birmingham.

You better believe they'll oppose it. Of the two, Troy's already the better program. Putting them in the same conference would merely serve to highlight the disparity.

Well, I know this: In Troy, people plan weddings around home football games, and the average woman in the grocery store has as much football IQ as my wife (a lot). How many UAB fans are this way?

Of the 20 UAB fans, only 5.

UAB has football fans? Who knew?

From the games I saw on TV, I don't think the player's families even show up.

If the rest of the league wants Troy in, they'll get invited, IMO. I doubt there is any type of gentlemen's agreement like the SEC schools have about blocking in state schools from joining. And the Extention Center likely doesn't have the clout to block anybody the way Bama or Florida does.

I suppose they'd lobby against Troy by saying they don't add much marketwise, but seeing as the only pool they have to draw from is the Sun Belt, they are scraping the bottom of the barrell as it is.

This is my neck of the woods and you are correct--Troy fans are RABID about their team. They hate that people live in Troy and don't cheer for Troy. I hear crap all the time from Troy fans about not obsessively cheering for Troy. I have to constantly remind people that I GRADUATED FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA!! Sure, I want Troy to win every game they play but I am NOT a Troy fan!! I am a BAMA FAN!! I ask people who criticize me that if I lived in Auburn, would that mean I HAD to be an Auburn fan? Heck, NO!! They usually understand then. They have a strong support system of graduates and supporters who didn't go to school there. I know several former athletes who HATE the Sun Belt and would love to see a move to something better. All the growth on campus is directed to furthering athletics and even though they can't fill the stadium, there are plans to expand it again. The first priority, at this point, needs to be some new coaching blood. This embarrassing year shouldn't have happened. Troy has some great athletes, they just need better coaches.

I am married to a Jax State grad, her views on Troy State are a lot like the people on here have about the Barn.

Honestly, there are a lot of (newer) Troy fans who could care less about Jax State. When I was there, "Whup Jax State" was the norm; it's been years since the teams have stepped on a football field together (late '90s?). As a Troy alum, it would be nice to see them out of the Sun Belt. Anything would be a step up (just my $.02).

Yeah Troy is a lil crazy about their football. One of my best friends goes to school there and is a career student. I can't stand Troy at all. When they beat Mississippi State tht year I didn't hear the end of it. If they would haven beaten FSU, I may have committed a felony. Being from Andalusia that's all I heard besides Auburn. I don't care about their invites. I wish Bama would play them to dust them. I do hope they would beat Auburn though. Roll Tide!
