Any Updates on Will Anderson?

It was obvious they were going for Anderson’s knees. They play before WA got hurt, they also threw a cut block at him while he was already engaged with an OL. I have no idea why a chop block wasn’t called.
I saw that too, couldn’t believe it wasn’t called because it was in open space and so obvious.

I've never been able to figure out why it's a 15 yard penalty if you do it to the QB but not any other player. I understand the argument that the QB is "defenseless" and occupied elsewhere, but so is a defensive player, when he's trying to follow the play action. It's a cowardly act...
To piggyback a little off what you said, in the video it was clear Will was looking at the QB/RB mesh to see who would come out with the ball and not paying as much attention to the guy in his lower field of vision diving at his knees.

It's weird to me that the NCAA has never outlawed it. Each time it's come up, smaller schools, particularly the service academies employing the triple option, have raised hell. In fact, they raised hell when it was outlawed more than five yards from the LOS. They'd like to be able to do it all the way down the field...

Way back in the day, when I played a little LB/SS, we were taught to slide to our job side (right or left depending upon responsibility) on a cut block, using our hands to push the defender down and away from the job side, while keeping our eyes up because a cut block likely meant the play was heading our way. Of course, keeping your eyes up makes it more likely to miss with your hands.

I received a pretty bad knee sprain from a cut block and quickly figured out that what we were taught was crap. We were taught that a proper cut block is going for the knees but not trying to injure the other player. I decided that a cut block was trying to take out my knees and you didn't care if you injured the other player. So, I came up with my own technique.

Honestly, it probably was technically illegal but I never got flagged and only recall one guy trying to cut block me multiple times in a game (though, it's a small sample size). I figured that if you were going to try to hurt me I'd try to hurt you. Instead of sliding to the job side I would sort of hop and try to land my cleat in the guy's ear-hole. About half the time his helmet would come off. I'm guessing, from a distance, it just looked like the cut block worked. But the offensive player, usually a FB/HB, would often try to get in my face after the play about it. I just said, "Go for my knees again and it'll be worse" - and left it at that. They usually went in higher the next time they blocked to my side.

The one guy I remember that tried to cut block me multiple times I caught really good the third time, I think, (maybe the fourth) and he came up swinging after the play and got ejected.

Now, I'm sure my solution would not work today, with replay and the extra emphasis on safety and all, but that was the only injury I had playing defense.
I like it.

Rule is that the block has to be between “10 &2” even at the LoS which gives the defender the ability to see it coming. Looked to me like he came in straight and then went low from the side - about 9 O’clock. Close call but my Crimson goggles say illegal block.

You could very well be correct in that. Keep `em guessing. For some reason I`m kind of optimistic that he`ll play.
I don't expect Coach Saban to confirm anything, but hopefully he can play if he's near 100 percent. Then maybe just let him play 1 quarter vs Southern Miss, then let him loose for Ole Miss when we really need him.

I wonder if Anthony Richardson will play for Florida with his hamstring issue. Hopefully they will let him rest and Bama won't have to worry about his running ability. They are going to need him later in the season if they have any chance of beating UGA/winning the East.

That`s a Bazza question concerning Richardson.

Exactly the same thing with AR - Mullen doesn't want to show his hand.

But in reality, AR probably needs to rest a couple of weeks - a minot hamstring pull can become a tear very quickly if it's not rested long enough. That said, UF's sports medicine program is top-notch and I'm sure they won't put him on the field unless it's safe to do so.

Under normal circumstances I would heartily agree....but we are talking about Coach Dan Mullen...

Not a doctor but the fact that W. Anderson walked off the field and to the locker room under his own power was a huge sign. Maybe he could get limited snaps on 3rd down if we are struggling to get a pass rush.

I’ve read on some other sites that AR has had hamstring issues before. Hope he takes care of it for his career/ future. I’m sure they won’t let him rush back too soon.
