Just wondering if any of ya'll happened to catch the interview with Star Jackson on Tider Insider TV earlier tonight, I did and let's just say that I think we'll all be pretty happy come Aug. 23rd. He talked some about the recent flurry of commitments and how exciting it is to see elite talent like that congregating in one place, he likened it "to a kid in a candy store or toy store" when asked how it would be to play with some of those guys. :biggrin2: :BigA:

it's still a few weeks away, but I don't see any surprises on 8/23.

????????

Man, you left us hanging with no link or write up. Tease.:p:wink:

Re: Anyone else catch the Star Jackson interview earlier tonight?

During his interview with TI, he said that while "He liked keeping people guessing, that he thought people (around here) would be very happy with his decision".

Another interesting note was a possible freudian slip when commenting on recent Bama commits. He was listing the commits and included Julio, but then quickly corrected himself to say Julio was a Bama lean. It was interesting in that he corrected himself in a way that insinuated that his first statement was actually correct.

Silent commitment? I think this is highly possible, pending a chance to make it official during the all-star telecast.

If it's possible he's keeping it very close to the vest. I just don't believe he has, but yeah that was pretty much it.

I going to hold you to that. If it doesn't happen, it's all on you.;)

Re: Anyone else catch the Star Jackson interview earlier tonight?

One of the board posters mentioned what I'm thinking. Imagine this:

Two HUGE bookend tackles (Boswell and Love), Jackson at QB, Ray and Jones at WR, Scott lined up who knows where.

Gawd, talk about dominating! But we really need some work on the DL and the LBs. Come on, D, we need ya.

Our offense is in good shape now. Think about how potent it will be once this current recruiting brings its superior talent on board. It's down right scary.

The defense will take a couple of years to get up to the CNS standard, but it will get there.

We have a juggernaught in the making, my friends.

Re: Anyone else catch the Star Jackson interview earlier tonight?

here's the transcript from it ...

Orr:"How did you get the name, Star?"
Star:"My mom and dad were on the beach looking at the stars trying to figure out a name, and decided to name me something original, so they came up with this weird name I have, Star."

Orr:"How was it out at the Elite 11?"
Star:"It was humbling to be around the elite QB's in this class, and I really got coached up good by the Rivals staff out there."

Orr:"Before that, you were in Tuscaloosa. How was that?"
Star:"It was fun. We came out the day before, and really got time to meet with the coaches. I met Saban and really enjoyed him. I got to see the campus, and it really felt like home."

Orr:"When is your press conference, the 22nd or 23rd?"
Star:"The 23rd for sure."

Orr:"Can you tell us if is going to be Auburn, West Viginia, or Alabama?"
Star:"Na, I'm going to try and keep everyone on their heels, but a lot of people are going to be happy. I'll just put it like that."

Orr:"What about Major Appelwhite?"
Star:"We didn't even talk about football, just about him being the quarterback at Texas and how he handled expectations. It is awesome he knows so much and can help me out so much even though he is so young."

Orr:"What about Major Applewhite working with a guy like Vince Young?"
Star:"The fact that he had a part in Vince's development is huge, and he can be a part of mine. Vince is my idol."

Orr:"As you watch Bama's class unfold, is it exciting to you, and do you get caught up in that, or do recruits not worry about other players?"
Star:"You definitely get caught up in it. When it comes down to it, these guys are going to be with you for four years. I mean you got Julio who is leaning to Bama. Big Love just committed, BJ, I mean these guys are elite, and I just want to join them."
( this is where all the commotion came from when he said julio he had a long pause and then went on to say he was a lean)

Orr:"What about Melvin Ray"
Star:"It's going to be like being a kid in a candy store."

Orr:"Looks like you and Julio might be teammates then, huh?"
Star:"I hope. After camping with him, I know for a fact he is a man amongst boys."

Re: Anyone else catch the Star Jackson interview earlier tonight?

In another Jackson interview, he did say that he hoped he could be teammates with Jones. If I am not mistaken the only place that is most likely to happen is Alabama. ;)

Re: Anyone else catch the Star Jackson interview earlier tonight?

I've been itching to talk to Julio in the last few days.
I just wanna ask him what he thinks of these new commits.
