Sorry guys for sounding bitter this last few days...I just tend to take so much of the rumor-istic, false impressions, etc etc etc so to heart, obviously.

When I started out the first time to just read this forum & others a couple of years back, it was merely to see what was actually being said "out there"...which turned into my wanting to defend the victim of the moment of rumors. It's probably & actually not a good idea when a person who is so very close to the matters at hand (as I am) to even come to read, much less, post on these type deals.

Anything I've posted or replied to has mostly been in my effort to defend what I know is true and some of you know the position I am in - which qualifies me to know what's up. That's all I can say, that's more than I should say, and I apologize for not just letting most of this "stuff" that is posted just go "as is"...it's no doubt best that I just keep my mouth SHUT from now on (:)), which will probably mean that I just go cold-turkey from hanging around.

The one thing I'd like to say, if it can be taken the right way is: please know that Alabama fans are criticized more than most (which is not a good end-result for our whole program) , so to help kill that bad-image, maybe if fans would be more careful in how they present their thoughts before lashing out (& considering WHERE the lashing is being done), we may get rid of this image. Between that & trying desparately to drum up more POSITIVE SUPPORT FOR THE COACHES & TEAM, I have driven you crazy! :eek2: Sorry about trying to drum that up, too.

That's about all I can say, and some will likely misinterpret ... have a good Christmas season & good luck in 2006 also :)

When have you ever "lashed out"? I like reading your posts, although I think that we are on the same mission! :) Keep the positive vibes coming!

Merry Christmas!

Coaching Shake-Up's

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well here it is - that time of year when coaches are put in a bag & the bag is shaken like crazy. Firings, retirings, resignings, replacements, the hunt is "on"...There are so many rumors out there, and it gets interesting (for all except the coaches' families...especially right here at Christmas time) - but anyway - here's another wrinkle:

Pat Sullivan is being mentioned in the hunt for the MTSU (Middle Tenn) job - does that open up some new assistant positions there with Pat , should he take it??? Does it open up a position at UAB? Everytime a new job is mentioned - you can bank on several other changes to be made here & there. That's good for the Fran-staff coaches; at least they'll have some possiblities fo new jobs & an escape from Alcatraz (Whoops- I meant from A & M...)

At any rate - it's interesting to watch all the changes - please anyone post if you hear of any such job changes - it gets better as it goes...

so i don't get it. you start a thread encouraging talk about coaching changes and then you take it personal when someone questions tide/OC coaching changes?? can't have it both ways. and btw, there are tons of people with "contacts" "close" to the program.

RTR!

Doesn't matter if people "like" what you post, or not, only that you believe in what you are saying. Anyways, we can't let you go.......sorry, you'll just have to stay around & help us sunshine pumpers out! :p Merry Christmas, & God bless!!!!

The one thread that I only saw that you are probably referring to when you reference recently is the one concerning the possibility of Dave Rader moving on to Rice and then evolved into a discussion of possible replacements if in fact his departure did take place.

I believe the moderators do a great job here of policing and deleting the threads that are deserved of such. I'm not aware of your position, but I would encourage you to not take so much of this personally. A discusion about possible replacements when such rumors abound is going to happen among fans of any school. As long as it is good natured in content, I personally see nothing wrong with it. They are in a public position at institution that many of us have great reverance for and I speak for myself when I say this, I have no intent to harm or hurt any of these coaches with my comments. Furthermore, a message board should be the least of their concern and I'm sure these coaches are above letting this bring them down. They know the passion that hovers around Alabama football, they know what they are getting into when they get here.

Passion for Alabama football can be a double edged sword. I have been to sites where coaches, players, etc. are hammered, this is not one of them. It is for the most part full of healthy, intelligent discussion. And when we are depicted with the worst fans image, I hate to see some fans take it too far and speak (or in this case post) before they think (I'm sure I have been guilty at times). Then again I reflect upon it for a moment and believe that person is really a good person that loves Alabama football and got caught up in the moment and just messed up. And then I realize how big Alabama football really is and what it means to be one of the elite programs. That fan expressed his passion (and frustration) for a program that he really loves. And then I realize I'm lucky and proud to be associated with a program that is so dear to many. And those fans that don't understand and shake their heads and laugh, they don't get it and we can't expect them to, for if you've never been a part of it you don't understand and thus we are simply coded as bad and ignorant. And truly it is their justified ignorance, I'm glad I'm not one of them. I'm glad I'm not associated with a program that has no passion, where losing is accepted and simply finishing in the top 25 every year is great, and the slogan becomes 'let's do it again next year'! They have never experienced the greatness that we as Alabama fans have and we can't expect them to understand us.

Ever wonder why the OU fans that come here have respect for us? PSU fans, even ND fans? They get it, they know what it's all about..... I'm glad I'm not an Auburn fan. But then again I know that deep down they do know greatness, we are their mountain top. Ask David Housel about the mountain top for Auburn. 1989 and UA.

I don't know what position you're in, but I've got an inkling just from some things that have been posted. I've always enjoyed your posts and find you insightful. It seems that the ones who've been offended have less than 200 posts combined. I'm constantly amazed at those who have maybe 15 posts and think they have standing to call out the mods, admins, and others who've been around for a long time. Heck, I don't call 'em out because I rely on them for information and they know more than I do. Merry Christmas, Roll Tide, and phhhhhttttt to those who don't like your posts.

Hey Bama Calvery:

You can't always judge someone by their post count. Although I've only a bit over 200 posts showing, I was on Tidefans when it was called Bamanation and there were about 45 members. I can't recall the dates, but I think we were discussing the Mike Dubose hire about that time.:)

I think I had about 6000 posts as Nawlins Tide before my work and other issues conspired to require a break from active participation in the online discussions found on this board. Of course, my 6000 posts is also somewhat deceptive as I was around for at least a couple of the infamous server meltdowns, which reset all post counts to zero. :)

Is my opinion somehow more valid now? It doesn't seem any different to me. :) RTR.

we NEED folks like you around these parts to bring what you bring to the site.

thanks for sticking around for so long and we hope you stick around for a LOT longer!

Hey I love your post - have always depended upon their credibility and appreciate your positive attitude. You know you can't stop posting, too much passion for the tide.. Step back a few days if necessary and come back with more spirit than ever.

Nah, I ain't including you in that. I've been around a while (not as long as many on here) and I've gotten a pretty good handle on who's been around and who knows what they're talking about. You know the ones I'm referring to...it's ok to disagree but if you're a newbie with no tact you can't expect to be taken seriously. Especially if you have less than 20 posts and call out a mod or admin. Just doesn't seem like the proper way to win friends and influence people.

I've read more than once that it is not what you say but how you say it. Heck, my mom taught me that long before I read it here. That simple understanding should apply to everyone, not just when it relates to comments directed at players and coaches. A condescending attitude stirs the pot quicker than just about anything around here. I believe our fans are the best fans out there. Are we, who is really to say. But it takes all kinds to make us what we are. From ex-cheerleaders to chicken farmers, we all want the best for our University. ;)

You must remember when posting on any football board:

1. Fans know more than the President.
2. Fans know more than the A.D.
3. Fans know more than the H.C.
4. Fans know more than all the above combined.
5. When Fans want a pity party you can't stop them.

Just hop over to TexAgs and look around. They have been calling for Torbush's head for three years. Now they are calling for the head of the new DC. Why? Because Fran didn't hire the one they wanted.
