Seems like I remember several posts since Saban was hired stating that Finebaum liked the Saban hire, had a man crush, and was only saying positive things about the hire.

It didn't take him too long to turn....... Link

Uh oh.....he's wined and dined some of you, and now guess what he wants.....just like always.

A leopard can't change his spots.

Finebaum = Everything is Great or Everything is a Disaster, there is no middle ground. He writes an occasional good piece but most are overinflated junk.

Finebaum has a man cruch on who ever is winning. If Bama beats Barn, he'll be in love with Saban again, if not, he'll be in love with ears.

Finebaum has never stepped foot on the field as a player or coach. He lays in bed at night dreaming of ways to start turmoil. Yes, he has praised Saban since the hire. This is an obvious sign that he flip-flops on issues in order to stir things up.
Don't give him the pleasure of reading or listening to his show. On this issue I totally agree with the Barners. Finebaum is a trouble maker.

I have to agree with a fair amount of what Finebaum says--Saban tried to downplay the expectations of fans and many didn't listen; booing your own team no matter how bad they look is uncalled for and is bad for recruiting; and paying someone $4 million a year doesn't guarantee anything.

I disagree with a few points, Saban did basically throw the Seniors under the bus, but he didn't blame Shula outright. Everyone basically knows what was implied there but Saban took responsibility for the loss and I admire him for that. In all honesty I think it's high time he took some of the players to task publicly. Apparently what he had been doing privately hasn't worked, this may not work either but at least it's worth a try. I also think Finebaum is trying to make more of the DJ Hall situation than is there. I think the story of letting him play because it was Senior Day, his last game at Bryant-Denny and his family was there is perfectly plausible. Had we won the game I don't think anyone would be bringing that up. I suppose you can spin it the way Finebaum did, but I think the media can paint anything to look bad if they try hard enough.

OK, let's add some reason to the DJ Hall discussion.

If the original decision was for a 1 game suspension and reversed at halftime, then why was DJ dressed for the game? I could understand this more if he was in street clothes the first half and dressed for play during halftime.

Saban has admitted to showing compassion towards DJ because his family was on hand for senior day.

The bigger question is why is arguably your team's best player, a senior playing his last game at BDS doing anything other than being a team leader. That fact in and of itself demonstrates the character of this team (or lack thereof). That doesn't mean they're not good guys. This team lacks what Stallings referred to the 2 years, not a very tough team.

It is what it is.

My thoughts exactly. When KB was suspended the first game, he watched from the STANDS! He didn't dress out and just stand on the sideline with helmet in hand.

Based on the statements that previously suspended players did not dress out, I concede that would lend credence to the claim that the suspension was only for one half.

HOWEVER, I have asked myself this hypothetical question: If the game had played out like many of these games do against second- or third-tier opponents, and Bama had built an insurmountable lead by halftime, would DJ Hall have seen action in the second half? In other words, would Saban have risked DJ's health in a certain win (with Auburn coming up) JUST to allow him to play on senior day?

I don't believe for one second that Saban thought we would even need Hall to win the game.

Something else that's annoying is that since no one knows what Hall did, how do they know that a half-game suspension, even if Saban had changed his mind after the fact, was not enough?

Maybe not, but that is an entirely different issue isn't it? I would guess that Coach Saban would have liked for the game to be well in hand by half-time so he could rest ALL of his starters and get second and third stringers some valuable playing time.

Coach Saban is a grown man. He is the head football coach of the greatest football program in the country. I think he can handle some criticism from a little bald headed man.

In fact, I think Coach Saban knew good and darn well there was going to be serious fall out after Saturday. I think this will only strengthen his resolve and focus. I can only hope the team follows suit.

I enjoy this board for its strict posting rules....trying to minimize the crap-mills and rumor-mills. To further discuss Whinebaum on this site seems to track dirt in the house. Therefore, I'll make this motion to ban any future discussion of WhineBaum on this forum....any seconds?

If this doesn't allow folks to see what Finebaum does nothing will. PF blew so much sunshine up CNS's keester he was being blamed for global warming. Now he is smashing him. Same ole hat.

Alright, we've got the motion seconded. Next is any further discussion, then if none, the motion is ready for vote.

Any discussion?
