Fundamentally different situations... CNS knew that his brother was not going to be able to qualify from the get go. Not the same no matter how anyone is trying to paint it.
True, and the bother, as expected, is not graduating from JUCO. This is basically a sad situation. I don't think it'll turn out well for KA, no matter what...

I've read a few posts I'd like to challenge but it would take a while . Instead , I'll simply quote the ones pointing in the right direction .

I think he has been manipulated by his parents and his brother, and they should be ashamed.
Yep, more and more stuff unfavorable to us keeps turning up. Families can sure screw up football... :D
And this is kid who had his mind made up as far back as 11/08 . Now , his family is behaving in a manner which is .... better left unsaid .

this has got to be one of the most weird recruitments of a player I have seen. With all the past history of Allen and Bama this is surprising to me. He was rumored to be a Bama lock back last summer I think and then now this. Good luck to him where ever he goes, I would have liked to seen him in Crimson.
Does the name Dexter McCleon ring a bell ?

Did Trent decommit from us last year when he announced on NSD?
Trent followed the script :D

Let's recap...

Allen denies rumors that he is waffling on his commitment. Then his brother decides to transfer, and he claims he is taking visits to help his brother find a school, but that he is still committed to Alabama. In hindsight, this is a complete and total lie.

And then, after our in-home visit with Bo Davis, he apparently stops accepting phone calls from Saban and the rest of our staff. And then, 36 hours before the start of National Signing Day, Allen has his father call our coaching staff and inform them that they have changed directions. In other words, his own damn kid didn't even have the guts to pick up the phone and make the call himself. And now it looks like his entire family will uproot and move to California on a whim, or both he and his brother will sign with a school that they have never even visited before (even on an unofficial basis).

So... yeah.

No need to mince words, good riddance on this young man. Truth be told, we should all be thrilled at the news of this, because this is exactly the kind of kid / family situation that can quickly form a cancer that invades an entire football program. He's one hell of a talent, no doubt about that, but even so best of luck to whoever "wins" his signature, because you'll probably need it.

P.S. I'll go along with the above poster who said that, given all that has happened, something extremely fishy is going on with this kid. And with our probationary status with the NCAA, frankly this is the exact kind of situation that we need to avoid. I imagine Saban feels the same way. As I mentioned in another thread, I'd be shocked if Saban and company even sent him a LOI on NSD, or gave him the fax number.

Yep, Penn St. is being mentioned. I'm not even sure he's even visited there. The situation begins to smell to high heaven...

TIDE-HSV,

there are rumblings now over on the Clemson MB that that the Allen family has a notorious "handler" doing their bidding.

I am sure this situation will become clearer as NSD draws near...:rolleye2:

Wednesday can't come soon enough!

It's only been two weeks, or thereabouts, that half-brother ZM left Buffalo. In that stretch, they became Clemson leans, and then after a weekend trip to California, the family is picking up and moving 3,000 miles. It all just seems over the top.

PS - KA still has Coach Saban listed on his facebook page as someone he is a fan of.

Kinda funny how the Clemson fans came up with this the instant they found out Allen was heading for Cal, huh?
All this changing alligence every few days and then suddenly deciding to move the whole family to California does seem a bit fishy but I'd take anything the Clemson fans say with a grain of salt.
Either way, both Bama and Clemson may have dodged a bullet in this situation.
I'd rather Keenan play at Cal than somewhere else in the SEC since I seriously doubt we will be playing Cal in the next 4 years.......but it would be nice to show KA what he missed out on.

And this would explain the "cooling" on Clemson, too. With Dabo at the helm, I would never expect him to put up with "handling"... Of course, unless JoePa has "handlers" handling the "handlers" then I wouldn't expect anything similar out of him either...but, as he's become more hands off, who knows???

Wow. This kid's recruitment has turned sideways in a hurry. Is this handler new to the process?

Some of the things I've seen in the past couple of days give the distinct impression that the decision could be out of Keenan's hands. I understand "family first," but this process is turning into a quagmire.

Wherever he goes, hopefully things will work out well for the young man.

Let's keep this thing in perspective. We're talking about 18 year old kids. They're making a decision that's best for them and their lives. Regardless of how he goes about making the decision, it is what it is. As with all players, no matter how great they are, they're always one play or one bad decision from all of it being gone (see Tyrone Prothro and Jimmy Johns, respectively).

Good luck to Keenan with whichever school he decides to go to. As has been said ad nauseum, he has an incredibly high ceiling when it comes to the potential that he has. I wish him all the best wherever he chooses to go. I won't badmouth him or his family. I have no idea what their situation is. If Bama isn't the best fit for him, sobeit. It's not for everybody and there are only so many people that can be on the field at one time. As it is, the crystal Coach's Trophy is residing in Tuscaloosa. Can't imagine myself getting worked up over losing a recruit, no matter how coveted. Until the day I see a recruit that can bring one back to Tuscaloosa single-handedly, I won't lose much sleep over waffling.

At this point, I'm afraid the die has already been cast. And it's not directly KA's fault...I feel sorry for him.

There seems to be a good chance this deal may have been done for a while. And the dad waits until dead period to call and say his son's not coming. And then the Yelverton angle comes up. I'm beginning to believe that this is one we dodged a bullet on. I still remember what a PITA Juicy Locke was. The whole time he hung around T-Town, I held my breath. In fact, I held my breath about the whole time the Dubose gang was running the show. Didn't do any good...

Earle, it seems like a whole lot of dreams are being hung on the shoulders of an 18 year old kid. I really hope he gets what he wants in the end.
