I was going to say the same. If he was not wanted by CNS then he would not be on campus.
I will also say, if anyone saw his announcement, he did not seem excited at all about him going to auburn. He seemed more disappointed than anything.
I will go on to say, that he is 17 years old. I too was faced with a major commitment at that age. Go to the University of Alabama or join the Navy. I went back and forth several times. I ended up joining the Navy but only after I had contacted my recruiter once and backing out. It is a very big decision to make especially when you have people constantly in your ear.
I have read where the RB out of Homewood stated after BC's commitment the the AU staff told him that BC would be moved to LB if he comitted. Could it be that BC found this info out and realized how the AU staff was jusst telling him what he wanted to hear instead of being honest?
With information moving at the speed of light, unlike fig, no way he "didn't know" about it. Whether or not that has anything to do with this visit, I have no idea.
As for the second part of the sentence...does a bear go #2 in the woods?

Could be Brent figured out the Barn coaching staff was all BS'ing him..Called Coach Saban back to apologize & was asked to come this weekend to see how thing stand..If Coach Saban wants him back..I do to..I think he's got the tools to be a really good Safety..A position he could get early PT at Bama..

I agree with that sentiment jps1983. I think sometimes we forget these are kids. And there is the heart and the head. In his heart, he may want to be RB. But if he does trust the projections of CNS......that is best chances at the pros is on D.....then maybe he'll come back to the Tide. Or maybe he will not. Obviously he is still open if he is visiting.

To a lesser extent, I'd agree. He is still just a kid, but that's the problem he faces. He must mature and push himself more than he ever has before if he wants to play major D-1 football at ANY school (and to me that's where the college coaches make the biggest difference). If I were his mama, I'd trust CNS to do that more than the barner coaches. But I'd still want him at Bama if he wants to be here and work hard. I won't completely write him off until I see the effort he gives after 1 or 2 years in college.

I have a feeling the visit to Bama is to console his father. Of course the staff agreed to the visit because if he's here he's not there with CK.

Whats this? Brent Calloway is visiting Bama?? If he does switch back, can he go back to being an all-world recruit?

No problem we'll just have the recruiting services pop that 5th star right back up there;)
If he does switch back, I wonder if he waits until NSD to announce.

This situation is very confusing and unpredictable to say the least.

First off lets be clear, Calloway is visiting Bama and that would have to be either at the request of Calloway, his parents or the Bama coaches asked him to visit one last time before NSD. In my opinion we should all just sit back and see how this plays out before publically being too critical of Calloway's handling of his flip to the barn. There is no doubt the father wants him to honor his original commitment and it could be that Calloway is now considering Bama pretty seriously. I have no idea if Bama wants him back or if he even wants to come back. I do know something is going on with him so again lets all just hold up and see what the staff does with this situation. It won't be long at all before we know the outcome, one way or the other.

RUSSELLVILLE -- Brent Calloway has flipped once, might he flip again?

The No. 3-ranked Birmingham News Preseason Super Senior entered the season as an Alabama commitment and exited the U.S. Army All-American Game as a pledge to Auburn.

Despite widespread spec lation that Calloway may change his commitment back to Alabama, he has said it's not going to happen.

Stay tuned. Calloway is scheduled to visit Auburn today, but if he visits Alabama instead all bets are off.

i have very mixed feelings IF he come back... of course if CNS is willing to forgive and forget there's something to be said about that

it just does not sit well with me that this kid used his opportunity on National TV to diss Bama and back out of his committment and switch to the barn....

i'm all for 2nd chances, and maybe he deserves one, but being wishy-washy is a pet peeve of mine and i'm still hoping he stays with dabarn

I think some of you are misreading what I said previously.

I never said Calloway wasn't a very talented player. Obviously he is, and admittedly he could be a legitimate star at linebacker or strong safety. But none of that matters the least if the kid is hellbent on playing tailback. We've seen this movie before. We know how it ends. Remember Jimmy Johns? Even without the blow, the kid was a bust because he spent three years refusing to play the position he needed to have been playing all along. Calloway will end up just like that if he insists on playing tailback.

And, finally, let's stop with a few more assumptions here. We really don't know if Calloway himself is all that interested in UA, and from the sound of things it's really his parents pushing this whole thing. And likewise, we don't even know if Saban would take him back. I'd wager Saban would have him on campus either way just to keep him away from Auburn and Cyrus. We just don't really know anything right now on either end, and some of you are making some pretty strong assumptions here with no substantive foundation to support them.

All the stuff about what position he would play if he were at UA or at aubarn is insignificant to me at this point. I'm with his dad on this one.....the kid totally handled this the wrong way all around. That's why I can judge him and say he made a mistake. Forget the stuff about him being a kid and having to make the right decision for himself. He didn't even discuss the switch with his parents or Saban. He made a mistake and hopefully he tries to amend it with all parties involved instead of just ignoring and hiding from it. I would regain respect for the kid then even if he doesn't switch back. Surely he knows aubarn is full of BS by now and realizes he could be costing himself an NFL career.

Bottom line, he's a kid in a difficult spot. He was fine with playing defense for CNS for nearly a year. He'd prefer playing RB, but heck, most athletes under Coach Bryant wanted to play QB. Not many did. If CNS wants him back, I'll gladly take him.

Plus, I heard he was not too thrilled with the Barn taking the Mason kid who'll get a shot at RB.

I don't get the venom and I don't accept the vilification of a teen-ager whose making the same decision in public that many of us struggled with in the privacy of our own homes.

It's not like we don't have kids on our roster who committed to Auburn and then changed their minds. Are they morally flawed? Are they of questionable character? Did they not deserve a chance to revisit a decision?

If you say yes, please share with the board your criteria and your qualifications to judge. Is it's because of the way he announced for Auburn? Ok. But think of how you might have come across if, at 17, someone had stuck a camera in your face when you were struggling with the biggest decision of your life.

So why don't we all drop the sanctimonious attitudes that belittles the pressure these kids face and wish Brent well. Isn't that what we'd expect from adults if we were in his place?

OK, you start the petition. ;)

Come on people there is no need to attack a differing opinion on this matter. We should be able to disagree and still have a civil discussion of the situation without a back and forth.

There are many different takes or opinions on this situation and that includes within the Calloway family for crying out loud. We need to learn to respect each others differing opinions. Please no back and forth about who is right and who is wrong.

Please and thank you! ;)

Sorry, BET, but to borrow your terminology, let's call a spade a spade. You're criticizing a kid based on the very assumptions you accuse others of making. In fact, you, like the rest of us, don't know if CNS wants him back or not. You don't know if he's on campus as a formality. You don't know if he's dead set on carrying the ball. And as best as I can tell, you don't bring any special inside knowledge about Brent or his family.

So why don't you take the advice you're giving the rest of us and not jump to conclusions, particularly when it comes to criticizing a teenager.
