Re: Malcolm Mitchell Update

but moma doesn't like auburn wouldn't let scum troop into her house
I haven't heard that little tidbit. lol I hear Trooper is drawing big crowds with the press out in Arizona. Wonder why? ;)

Well stranger things have happened down the stretch but there is no doubt if Wright signs with Bama that would definitely help with Crowell. As it stands right now I still think Wright ends up elsewhere, if not the barn then probably UT.

I am with the folks that believe that Mitchell will choose Bama over UGA.

also not saying he comes to bama because i think he is a back up plan to be honest
I thought you were talking about a recent development between the barn and Wright. The latest statement I heard from Wright shortly after the UA AA game was that if he were signing today it would be the barn. The hiring of Coach Rumph could significantly change the dynamics of Wright's Bama recruitment. Like you I still believe he is still a back-up plan. We will know much more after he visits this weekend.

ATH/WR Malcolm Mitchell and his HS teammate TE Jay Rome are taking their official visits to Alabama together this weekend. Mitchell is believed to be favoring Bama and Rome is believed to be favoring UGA. Mitchell has scheduled his commitment announcement on Jan. 20th.

I hope he and Rome love their visit and just decide to play together at Bama. I hope CNS shows them that Frank Tarkenton piece.lol.

Seems MM and JR will announce on same day. Not sure same location. And of course there is the obligatory bash of Bama in the AJC.

Yea we know the great Mark Richt won't oversign. Something the blog alludes to, but doesn't go as far as it could is when it is says there can only be 85 grant-aided players. We don't know how many players aren't paying their own way. Some players are believed to being do that.

I still feel that we are a lean with MM but if JR and MM announce together at the same site it wouldn't make much sense for one to announce UGA and the other announce UA. I'm more confident that JR is going to UGA so that worries me a little bit on MM's commitment

Some thought Therezie told the staff he was Bama's but also told the Barn's staff the same. Of course, he picked Auburn, so no telling which is correct.

Guys are waiting in line to come to Bama due to our small scholly limit. This staff knows who is and isn't coming, so there won't be any surprises for them. If these guys go to UGA, then it is probably because we wanted someone different. Yeah, we oversign. We want to win national titles, get over it. We all come into the season with the same number of scholarship athletes. Jealousy abounds....

It has not been stated they will announce together just on the same day. People jump the gun a little to quick around here.
In the article it says it seems logical that they announce together at the same site so I don't think it's jumping the gun too much but being logical that two teammates happen to be announcing which college they are going to on the same day in the same city. Doesn't mean that they're both UGA but logically it could

Yeah. Not jumping the gun. We just don't have all the facts right now and even if we did have all the facts.......I'm not sure we could draw any inferences from it. I don't think there is any "take away" from the fact that they are announcing on the same day or even the same place. I don't know how many times I have seen different players on the same team don different hats. So I wouldn't read anything into it even if we assume they are announcing at the same place. All I take from this is....this is the day they'll both announce and that's about all know and nothing to infer from it at this point.

It's nearly impossible to not oversign. Anyone that says otherwise is bad at math:

NCAA allows 85 players on scholarship for each team.
You can only enroll 25 per year.
Each player has 4 years of eligibility.
4 X 25 = 100 players

The NCAA rules put each school in an awkward position. Add to this that schools really recruit on a 5-year cycle. For instance Alabama has several redshirts. Meaning a player could actually spend 5-years at a school counting towards the 85 man limit. If a school is only allowed 85 scholarship players, and each player spends an average of 4-years at that school the signing limit per year should actually be 21 players. Until the rules are changed no-one can legitimately accuse anyone of oversigning because the rules allow it, and really they're badly designed because it creates this situation. So obviously the end result is an argument based on jealousy. IMO

We could've missed on Therezie and one isn't indicative of the other's intentions. I too have seen jam's predictions, so we'll see b/c I thought jam was confident we'll get clowney too. Time will tell, but we'll be fine either way.
