ATH Victor Beasley commits to Clemson

ANDREW BONE: Out-of-state program benefits | TideSports.com | The Tuscaloosa News | Tuscaloosa, AL
Another player coach Dabo Swinney has his sights on is Victor Beasley, linebacker from Adairsville High School in Georgia. The Tide is also recruiting the Peach State product.

Beasley appears torn between the two programs as he continues to delay his decision. The Tide remains with very limited scholarships available for the class of 2010. Delayed decisions can have many variables as we wait for Beasley's announcement, which is not yet determined.

I really want this guy, but will we take him at this point? Or will we opt for Moseley or Owens if they want to commit? I just dont see any way we could take all three but I dont think that we will be getting Owens anyways. It's still nice to make the barners sweat though.

That is a really good question. Seeing what he decides this week may in and of itself give us the answer. With no evidence at all, I've come to just about believe Moseley is a silent commit. If we take Beasley, I may have to put that thought aside. I really hope Keenen Allen is a silent commit as well. Owens is probably still well up in the air from both his and our viewpoints. If Beasley goes to Clemson, room is still tight, but we might then fit in both Moseley and Owens.

I think Alfy Hill made be a part of the LB equation too.

Whether it is at LB or DE I think a speed rusher like Hill is part of the equation too. Which positions do you think we most want to fill out of say 6 spaces left? I'd guess 1 WR/Safety/ATH combo (K. Allen), 1 corner, 1 pass rusher be it be at LB or DE, 1 or 2 LBs, 1 OT, and 1 whatever. Maybe TE.

Spaces sure are running out. I'd be surprised if we see even 1 commit per month until NSD.

I think he will pick Bama. No reason to commit to clemson right now with as many spots as they have left. He has time to wait for them but not for us. I guess the upside for this guy is to much to resist. He better get on board right now.:BigA:

This version feels right to me, too, Wiley. We'll see shortly.

Good point. Those who are waiting might get left out. Quit waiting to see where other kids are going. Make up your own mind and commit.

I have found the level of attention the recruiting sites like BOL give a recruit's announcement the best early indicator of where a recruit is headed. Clemson certainly seems like they have the advantage if you trust this barometer. I get the feeling we are not beating down VB's door right now either.

I kind of agree that since BOL has not even put up a post on him or even acknowledged his announcement he is clumson bound... Not sure what halted our pursuit but must be a numbers game because he is a good player and really should be holding a 4th star..

Beasley has not once come out and said that Clemson is his favorite and for a good while now he has said that Bama is his favorite. I think he is torn between the two schools and he is still trying to make up his mind. For that reason alone I still think he could pick Bama tomorrow but I am less confident than I was before.

It certainly appears that the 'Clemson sources' feel good about their chances of getting a commitment from Beasley. If he does choose Clemson then I would think it would not be because Bama backed off of him but that he favors playing on offense rather than defense were Bama wants him. A whole lot of folks, even some Bama sources are saying they think Bama has backed off of Beasley. From all the talk going around it does seem like he is leaning towards Clemson now. Tomorrow at 12:00 noon ET we will know for sure.

ATH Victor Beasley (6-4 220) of Adairsville, GA plans to announce his college choice Thursday at a news conference at his school. Beasley is down to Clemson and Alabama. He had been favoring Alabama but Clemson sources indicate the Tigers feel very good about their chances at this time.

i really hate to lose him especially with the news that allen is possibly going to oregon, but i think we arent going to get him... BOLs mods seem fairly certain we wont anyway and thats not a good sign...

Where is the article regarding Allen. I haven't seen anything other then him having a top two of UA and Oregon. I actually feel pretty good about Allen, as with King and Hill. Maybe there is a connection with those three and our focus is in the Tarheel state. Not to forget also Ethan Farmer who I just thought had us in his final two. So that is 4 from the state. Remember they are in the backyard of 4 ACC schools. Would be nice to get a pipeline there.

The other thing about Beasley is he does have a huge upside, but still needs to develop, and I feel his chances of doing that would be better under this staff. Just my opinion. Also with very few spots left, I think positions like TE, OL, and DB might be a little more important in regards to this class. We need more depth there then some others and with CJ Mosley(Hope he commits) I think our LB corp might be fine when you look at what we just brought in. Just my two cents.
