Attendance for Sat.

What are some of you guy's thoughts on the possible attendance for the game? I hope everyone shows up, but I kind of doubt it. I kinda feel for the kids and fans from WC because they might not get to feel the true atmosphere of Bryant Denny. I hope we are loud and proud! What are ya'lls thoughts?

I'm guessing around 70k...possibly as low as 60k.

If we go up by 28+ at the half, put in the back-up's for most of the second half, and see a drop-off in scoring...we could have 40k or less in the stadium by mid-4th.

50-60,000 is my guess. If we were playing a bigger name or a more critical game then more would attend. But I think there are a lot of people who will stay home and not make the trip, under the current conditions, because of the opponent.

I don't know who WCU plays this year. This still may be the biggest crowd they see this year.

Florida State is allowing Hurricane Ivan evacuees into the game, first come first serve, for free. It's probably too late to do this, but it would have been a nice gesture for the evacuees in town and it would have helped to fill up the stadium.

When Hugo hit Charlotte, NC in the late 80s (89 I think) There was total black out in the city due to the 100 mph winds...Hugo hit on Thursday night. We got everything in as much order as we could and headed to The Capstone on Friday to watch the first start of Hollingsworth against UK. There was nothing we could do in Charlotte and I suspect the same thing will happen this weekend with many of the victoms of the storm. I gave my tickets to my youngest BIL and he'll be there with his son as one of my customers was foolish enough to open a new store during football season featuring my products this weekend. I'm going to go to ASU and Iowa in Tempe, AZ.

In summary, I think it's good the game on as this will be a break from candles and checkers for many in the state!

I don't think any of the dorms had to be evacuated. In fact, the UA website specifically says that dorms were going to be staying open. Many students did go home however, and while that might affect the student population at the game, I do know that a lot of students came back Friday night and perhaps are rejoining us Saturday afternoon.

Family weekend cancellation

Remember also that it was supposed to be family weekend with lots of families already having bought tickets, (or at least we did), that included game tickets. Like others, our son was told he didn't have classes after Wed., so he headed home. At the time they were predicting 40-50 mph winds with battering rain. So we changed our plans and stayed home. For those who believe you can never find tickets, this would be a great time to go. There will be lots available.

I hope people who can manage it will still go to the game. I think it would be very good for them mentally and spiritually. People that are able to get there would benefit from doing something "normal".

i live in gulf shores, and we went to montgomery early in the week....we are going home today...i had fully intended on going to this game, but Ivan changed my plans , hate to miss it! and sure i won't even get to watch it....but right now just hoping my house is there, haven't been able to hear anything.

I can't wait to get to the game and to stay for the whole game. I know the young guys will get to play and I want to be able to form my opinions form seeing them on the field and not on TV. I think that a lot of people will have the same idea. Therefore I'm looking at 70K to 75K... 60K by 5 minutes to go in the game.
