Auburn Fans: No Class, No Respect

Haha, all this talk about Toomer's Corner is great fun.

After the Auburn win last season, I had the pleasure of going out with my friends at auburn and throwing toilet paper in the tree at Toomer's and the rest of the town. You guys should try it. Even if we lose, it's kind of funny that they can pride and we can chuckle to ourselves while disgracing the town. Whatever tradition it is, it is all-inclusive. Rival fans can participate to the same degree that Auburn fans and students can. Moreover, both gain the same satisfaction. There's nothing like a casual 'war eagle' to some auburn fan while trying to stifle laughter at the irony of the situation. What a joke!

A simple solution would be to stay out of their boards. The few times I've visited there was absolutely nothing of substance. Bama bashing is the name of the game for them, not discussing football or other sports with any semblance of intelligence.

The Rivals boards aren't what they used to be. I'm a BOL member, but I generally don't even read the boards there, because it's been taken over by a bunch of kids who don't offer anything but immature bickering . . . which is why I joined TideFans.

Oh believe me, I never go into AU boards (or the boards of any other team for that matter). Let's face it, 95% of the sports talk boards on the internet are either poorly moderated, full of idiots, or both. They constantly repost the same four or five topics: "Our team gets no respect", "Our attitude is great", "It's our coaching staff's fault we suck", etc. That's why this is the only "team" based board I ever go to.

University of Texas at Austin = Texas. Aggies call them UTA.
Who cares what barners and aggies think? Bama fans and Texas fans alike know who they are, they don't need some second hand college telling them who they are? I threw in Texas for good measure.

I found an interesting item on ebay. It's a framed photo of Coach Bryant and Pat Dye. It made me think about this thread and how caught up in hating each other's respective teams has become top priority in Iron Bowl discussions. Not the great memories or the amazing plays, but simply how much Alabama and Auburn fans hate one another because of a contest. I know I'm guilty.

Actually, they call University of Texas at Austin TU, as in Texas University, not University of Texas, possibly because A&M was the first university in Texas, I believe.

I try to buy my Pops a BAMA picture every year for Christmas with the matting, framing, yada-yada.

I've bought him that one and the one where they are out hunting. In the one you referenced, you can just see on Dye's face that he totally in the moment and enrapt in being in CPB's presence. One of my fav's.

BamaBeauty is right. The Texas Longhorns are never supposed to be referred to as "Texas" or "Longhorns" by true Aggies, but they don't use UTA either. They use t.u. for, texas university, instead of UT. Apparently we're supposed to be insulted that they don't use the shift key when typing it. And collectively, we aren't Longhorns, but tea sippers, t-sips or just sips.

Of course, Texas A&M University doesn't call their own team by its correct name either, they drop the A&M and say they are the Texas Aggies. "A&M" is not in either endzone, but one endzone just says "Texas" in it.
