Auburn Fans

You're so right Brett! Auburn fans have definitely crawled out of the woodwork over the weekend! If I hear "War Cam Eagle" one more time, I think I'll puke!!

Being the conservative, well socially, this one especially irritates me. And you? Is this not the worst of all time?

Auburn fans are like dachshund, all bark and no bite but they are just so cute and harmless.

Auburn Tigers ARE the Boise State of the SEC. An undefeated team built on a lousy schedule, and a media love affair. But both teams will be expose before the end of the year.

Personally, I am not a fan of "The legend that is Ryan Mallet." He shines against lesser opponents and whines against good defense...or mildly average in the case of the barn. He will get drafted and then promptly get broken into pieces in the NFL.

The thing I take from the arky v. barn game is that arky has a dang good qb for the next couple of years. His name escapes me at the moment and he made rookie mistakes down the stretch, but he will be a good one.

As to your point, I don't think his presence would have changed much.

The more Mallet falter against good teams, the more I think that he will come back for his senior season. I can't imagine an NFL team drafting him if he folds like a tent against good college defenses. He will get killed in the NFL, and his whining will get him nothing. Of course, they do throw a flag if you barely touch the QB in the NFL, so he may decide to go a year early.

He won't make any friends with his whining. Hopefully someone will tell him that the NFL is big boy football.

Let me first say before I get blasted by all the card carrying members of the "Kool Aid Patrol". I am as big of UA fan as anyone on this board, but I am growing tired of hearing so many Bama fans across the state try to convince others and themselves of how bad this years Auburn team is. I have personally played the game and coached for more than 10+ years, as some others on this board have as well. I will tell you that IMO Mr. Newton is as talented of football player as I have seen in a long time not counting those who appear in NCAA 2011 on PlayStation. He would get my vote for the Heisman if we were voting today quicker than a 3 legged chicken crossing Ethiopia.

Of course Bama fans are ready for AU to lose a game, their constant bragging and smack talking is making my ears bleed more than Evander Holyfield’s after Tyson pulled a Hannibal Lector. Well, guess what?? That is probably very similar to how AU fans have been feeling for the last 2 years about us continuing to win each and every week. It's one thing to pull against your rival but it is clearly nothing but shear bias and hypocrisy to continually not give them credit when it is obviously due IMO.

Sure they have areas that could be improved on, as do Megan Fox & Eva Longoria, even though I have not been able to find them yet. We all know AU’s secondary is as weak and porous as a dehydrated Sponge Bob Squarepants on meth, but I also know of another team in the state that has it's own problems in the secondary. Yes AU’s offense is a one man show, but the way teams are playing us now and going to continue playing us we sure could use a one man show of our own at QB for a few games.

Then there are those that keep saying each week, well they have not played anyone. Guess what, they beat the only team that beat us (I don't care about where the game was played, they won the game, we did not), they currently have the most electric and productive RB in the league, they put up 65 points on the same defense that most Bama fans were saying 4 weeks was vastly improved over last years. Bama fans better open their eyes and get their heads out of the clouds and hope that our team wakes up from the current rut we are in and quickly improves on both sides of the ball or there will be more than a “1” in the loss column before the year is over.

I am not one to look ahead past games that are coming up next on our schedule and neither should our team or fans. However, the solution to beating this years Auburn team is very simple, stop #2 from running. Easy to identify, but being able to accomplish that task on the field is a much different animal. Several teams have tried to shut down this offense, but few have had much success. I have not even seen a team make it their #1 goal to take Newton's feet out of play. Fortunately, we have the coaching and that is the key, because it will take a great defensive game plan and 100% effort by the defense to not let #2 beat you with his legs. It will be more difficult than stopping Tebow last year because Newton is faster and more elusive and we don't have the same experience and talent on the D we had last year.

There are more games to play and our coaches are working hard to see that we keep improving in all aspects. I just ask that people don't show their ignorance by making excuses to why they feel this AU team is not very good. They have not lost, and their offense looks as good as any in the country. If I remember correctly, getting W's is the reason you play the game. You don't have to pull for them, but give them credit!

I feel better now….

Cam could be a one and done if he wins the Heisman, maybe a a runner up after we beat em'.

He has as much pro potential as Tebow, Jamarcus Russell, or Vince Young.

If Auby does win the NC and Heisman, basically matching our historic moment the next freaking year! At least we'll know that Coach Saban will have reason to stick around and whip a new challenge. And this will keep me from jumping out of a high window.

I have to agree with BamaPepper. API has up to this point taken on all comers and has yet to lose. That's all any team can do.

As far as Cam Newton goes, he is by far the best player I've seen this year. He is the key to their success and until someboby stops him they will continue to win. Simple as that.

For now though we need to concentrate on TN and leave API for another day.

I hate to say..They have every right to "talk the talk" up to this point..They are undefeated & ranked ahead of us..I really thought the Hogs were going to shut them up..So I guess until they get beat..We just have to bear it until someone shuts them up on the football field..

As much as I deep down would love to see Bama beat an undefeated awbarn team. I don't think I can listen to this for a month.

An old wise man once said, "He who angers you, controls you." Think about it for a minute, and then realize why you shouldn't give a rip about what any Auburn a-hole says because they're just trying to get under your skin. If you let them, they win.

Do what I do when Auburn people try to bait me - I just pat them on the back and say, "Man, yall have an awesome team. If yall don't win the national title this year yall should just give up football alltogether."

That usually changes their demeanor.

The only thing they hope for more than winning a national championship, is ruining our shot at it. Which is pitiful. I actually feel sorry for Auburn fans. I don't even see what it is that they get excited about each football season. They know the slogan - "AUBURN - WHERE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP HOPES GO TO DIE!"

I teach at a high school in North Alabama, and today seemed like I saw more Auburn gear being worn than at any point since I started there. Even the student that could go to either UA or AU (depending on the major he chooses) was wearing an AU shirt. I asked him about it and he said "Everyone else is doing it."

My AU students were even the ones initiating football talk with me

AU student - "SOOOO, what happened against Ole Miss?"
Me - "Um, well we won. Did something happen during the game that I didn't catch watching it?"
AU student - "Well y'all struggled to beat them."
Me - "Y'all did too, until Arky turned it over a couple times in the fourth quarter - against a green back-up QB no less."
AU student - "Well, Cam Newton is the defending Heisman trophy winner and he's gonna kill y'all."
Me - "Actually, Mark Ingram is the defending Heisman winner, and we'll just see how the game turns out Thanksgiving weekend."

How they got frustrated over that is beyond me.

Well said, JW

Please tell me your joking when your student said, "Well, Cam Newton is the defending Heisman trophy winner and he's gonna kill y'all."

Just plain stupid...
