Has anyone purchased this DVD? Would you recommend it? I ordered something similar back in '93 and was very disappointed in the quality, sound bites, etc... Surely, technology has made improvement a no-brainer.

Exactly the same reason I'm waiting. I've been burned a few times lately on rush jobs with Bama dvds. Even the SECCG dvd was mediocre quality. I hope the BCS game gets better treatment.

I got mine in the mail the other day and have yet to pop it in. But, I've read elsewhere that it's not too impressive. I'll let you know later this weekend what my opinion is.

"Back On Top" is absolutely dreadful and painful to watch, the CTSN is the biggest joke in the world. I can understand tough times and a low budget but this is a pathetic excuse for a video of a team that just won the 2009 BCS National Championship. And to make matters worse the 1992 "The Championship Season" that I have on VHS straight up blows it out of the water in terms of quality, production, video, audio. Its just hard to believe that in 2009, 17 years of a championship drought and we get stuck with this crap that a 10 year old produced.

Sorry for the rant but the video isnt worth 5 cents at a discount store.

That's what I was afraid of, but is there another DVD option? I want the season preserved somehow but would rather it not be crappy. :frown:

Not only is it not very good, but on mine the championship games wont even play. So its not only poor producing, its also poor manufacturing

I recorded the entire season onto DVD (except for the Kentucky game - I wasn't at home and left the satellite receiver on the wrong channel). After the SECCG I made 1 DVD of all the highlights from the whole season. It only has the audio from whatever station the game was on (CBS, ESPN, etc) because I didn't bother to record a different soundtrack on to it. It took about 3 days to finally get it all done. I recorded the BSCCG with all the pre-game and post-game coverage.

I found what looks to be the ESPN broadcast of the game at bamastuff, hopefully that's different than the one y'all are talking about. The one I want more than anything is the SEC championship game, I could watch that over and over.

I looked at my step-fathers copy of the BCS game today. It has the espn logo on the front, but its actually made by another company. The funniest part was when I turned the disk over and it was purple. For those who dont know, recordable media that you buy at the stores like walmart or bestbuy are this color. Typically, a professionally mastered cd or dvd is silver on the bottom. They are actually selling copies of games burned on dvd+r media. How cheap.

Maybe we should be buying from you, ever think about going commercial? ;)

Glad to find this post. In years past, I'd record the games, but I was so nervous I didn't record the SECCG or BCSCG. I was thinking about buying a copy of these things, glad to know it's not worth it. I'll save my money!

The DVD consists of a menu of regular season games and the two championship games.

Basically each game has high light plays and a very brief halftime interview with Coach Saban.

Quality is ok. I guess I was hoping for more narration before each game, kind of recapping season before each game. Something like "Bama is coming off a victory over . . . and is ranked . . . ." Something to set the tone for each game. I've seen those on videos of other seasons. I think they show some of those at the stores on the strip during game days.

I would not recommend this DVD.

I just watched my copy of the Back on Top DVD. I got it with a gift card that I had received for Christmas, so I can't complain about having to buy it I suppose. I was very disappointed with the video. The highlights were great, and Eli's commentary was good, at least what there was of it. It was very choppy, and most times another play call started before his last sentence was finished. The BCSNCG was incredibly disappointing - I thought I was watching a rap music video. Highlights to Ala-Freaking-Bama - I could have watched that on YouTube and spend my gift card on something else. I would not recommend this DVD, either.

I also got the DVD as a gift (through SI). I guess I have a slightly different take on it. It's obviously not a great DVD... and not really a 'good' DVD'. But its OK. It gets the job done. It shows all the right/good highlights, but I also was wanting some more 'behind the scenes' type of stuff. Overall, for it being (I think) the only option out there... not bad. However, I will agree w/ the previous poster that the BCSNCG was awful. It didn't even show all the highlights you could find in all of the regular season games within the same DVD. My guess is that they didn't want to pay for the rights for more??

All in all, its OK, but its no Avatar...
