Was a scrimmage, so hard to figure what it all means, but based on the stats, AJ's looking great. Sims' completion ratio is impressive for a true freshman. Through two scrimmages, JJ looks like he's back to early freshman season form. This could be his big breakout year. Too bad it's probably his last wearing crimson, but I'll take it. Surprised at the number of passes thrown TR's way, but glad to see him handling them well. Just another aspect of his still-developing game (he'll be a beast once he's the go to guy). Dareus already is a beast - my goodness! Our O Line couldn't handle him last scrimmage either, and we aren't too shabby on the O Line.

I really like seeing how much of a receiving threat TR is appearing to be. It's the second straight scrimmage that he's had a good number of both rushes and catches.

Hard to say who was doing what when or why. Everybody is getting a good look though. Herbie Buck and Will Lowery have played their names into the newspaper and you gotta love that!

Marcell Dareus – 10 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 TFL, 2 PBU

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he's going to have a monster season...:cool2:

Those are some unreal numbers and they are pretty consistent with the first scrimmage. Glad he's on our side!

Man the QB corps really laced with talent ... I know this is only a scrimmage but all four put up decent numbers. Glad to see SJ still in it.

I feel sorry for whoever has to block 57 everyday in practice.

Actually whom ever is drawing Dareus as their assignment is getting some valuable reps agaginst an elite type talent. If their confidence doesn't get shot, and I think that is why Fluker is getting alot of reps, they will benefit from it.

If Fluker is the one getting his lunch handed to him by Dareus, that's not good!

Good point.

Two things to keep in mind here (assuming it is D.J. that Marcel is taking advantage of): 1) D.J. is still learning to play on the OL and 2) Marcel is going to hand a lot of OTs their lunch this coming year (and in the future), our guys included. He's just that darn good.

2 scrimmages. 20 sacks. Me likey.

Well, we are obviously getting pressure on the QB. But remember with scrimmages sacks, they aren't always what they seem. You get a sack if you just touch the QB, and they end the play, cause it's really no contact on the QBs. So some those might not have ended up a sack in the real game.

I tend to think that if Marcel Dareus touches a quarterback, dude is going down. Hard.. See Colt McCoy..

No, but it would have been a "QB hurry," which Saban values on just about the same level as a sack. This came up before and someone posted the video of his explaining his position on that. But, when it's us against us, it's the same zero-sum game. If DJ were blocking #57 every play, we'd be worried about that...

Interesting that Julio caught a TD from both Greg and McCarron - I assumed that AJ was the QB for the 2's but maybe not? I wonder if AJ started the game running with the 2's, and then switched over to playing with the 1's when Sims and Jackson got in? Anyone have any insight?

Let's hope Gibson can keep it up and be yet another threat in the passing game. Looks like he had a great day out there.
